Holmdel High Lacrosse Player Collapses, Dies During Game At Rutgers

TERRIBLE! JUST TERRIBLE!

At about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, a 911 call sent Rutgers University police and Rutgers emergency services to the lacrosse playing fields at University Park, where a 16-year-old male had collapsed during a youth, a Rutgers spokesman said. The game was sponsored by a youth lacrosse league, Leading Edge Lacrosse, which reserved the space from Rutgers for the game. It was their first of the fall season.

We were playing on the other field when it occurred. Initially, they thought it was a seizure. Obviously something was wrong by the urgency and tone of the parents asking for help. An EMT spectator was was there to administer CPR before the ambulances arrived. 4 hits with the AED and still nothing. He was attack with ball at other end, supposedly just dropped. Tragic for family and team

In a letter shared on the Holmdel High School lacrosse team's Facebook page, the family of Jack Dowd explained that he had a medical condition known as arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia. The family was unaware of the condition before his death.
