Honoring 1983 team

Mark, I got a chance to chat with John Battle before the game. He was psyched to be back on campus after not being on the banks in a long time.

Thanks , my favorite player for sure. I remember Pearl Washington got all the attention and Battle had longer NBA career. Hinson was not there?

Unfortunately, the Atlantic 10 was a college hoops ghost town for most of the 80s. Not many fans paid attention to it. All eyes were on the Big East.

John Battle, Chris Remley, Rich Brunson, and Mark Sokolich were the only players from the '83 team who made it. Assistant coach Art Perry and Tom Young's son were also there.

Thanks. Meant with the current players honored at half.

Glad to see Coach Perry there. I went to Rutgers summer basketball camp in the late 70s, and he was coach of my team. We won the camp league and got trophies. Excellent coach…

I graduated RC in 1985 and had Battle in one of my history classes. Very quiet, but very nice guy. And of course, he was amazing to watch on the court. Best pull-up jumper ever at RU, followed by a successful NBA career.
