Hopeful good omen for today- winning jockey in the first race had a huge red block R on his back

That's for the owner Ken Ramsey who has a huge stable, especially "Kitten" horses. That R is widely recognized by the horse racing community. I don't believe it was the first race, but the last one shown on TV( unless he did win Race 1 as well)

Hollywood Park? I hope it's an omen.

Many years ago (1961) I was there and made a bet - $6 combo - on some horse that won and paid big across the board; something like 10-1. Some inebriated fan shows me his winning $100 ticket and asks me how I picked the horse. I go into my expert analysis on weight, drop in class, exercise time, etc. So I asked him how he picked the horse.

He says it's the 7th race, right?
Yeah.
And he was horse number 7, right?
Yeah.
and Neves is the jockey, right?
Yeah, so what.
Spell Neves backwards. Ya gotta look for signs like that.

So, I'm expecting a commit today.

The jockey on #7 in the Derby, Oscar Nominated, will be wearing the Block R silks. A real long shot.
