Now that we are starting from a clean slate can we make a power move and be a contender? We need to hire a proven coach with National Title experience. Can we somehow negotiate a deal with a Les Miles or Jim Tressel type coach. We will be a full member of the B1G in 5 years. With that comes a lot more money. People like the 2 aforementioned are not starving for money and we need a negotiator to get them interested. Of course we need incentives like winning the B1G title. I propose making them the highest paid NCAA coach at the time of resigning in 5 yrs if they win the National Championship within their first 5 years. Pay them exactly $1 more than the current highest paid coach if they win the National Championship. I know it sounds goofy but think about the potential revenue. The NYC area is loaded. We have 2 NFL teams, 2 MLB teams, 2 NHL teams, 2 NBA teams and now even 2 soccer teams. The market can support college football. The area needs a contending college football team. By the time we resign the coach I expect us to have lots more fans, donors, etc. Think about the incredible attention we received after the 2006 Louisville game. Requests for student applications (who are obvious football fans and future donors), ticket sales, merchandise sales, parking, concessions, advertising, stadium expansion, etc. And that was after only 1 successful season. College football = money. It is the flagship college sport.

Maybe the names are different BUT we need to swing for the fences NOW. Spend the money and it will be returned. Look at Michigan. They average $140 million yearly in football related earnings. That helped fund the other smaller sports teams and academics. Look at all the schools with big football success, therefore big budgets.... Michigan, Notre Dame, PSU, OSU, Oregon, Oklahoma, yada yada yada. Football success = all Rutgers success

If we fail in 5 years at least we will have lots more B1G money to buy ourselves out anyway or hire a level 2 coach for a few years then anyway. Besides that Look at our recent history. We haven't really light it up anyway with the level 2 coaches. Swing for the fences I say. If you don't swing you will never hit the ball.

I know it sounds nuts and irresponsible to empty your pockets and let it all ride on RED but YOLO. 1 spin... go big or go home. I recognize the names might be different than what I suggested but you can see the concept. Proven success usually yields future success.
