I don’t fault Ohio State or the officials…

Flagged it in the game thread, but just felt like something abysmal was coming (i.e. a last second shot to lose) when they buried that afterthought 3 in the first half at the end of the shot-clock.

I said to my gf, this feels like a game we will lose, but after Cliff’s block I thought we sealed the victory. As fan for 4+ decades, I should’ve known better.

Yeah I was getting a bit more confident late (after the Cam plays, etc.), but that darn 3 was in the back of my mind the whole rest of the game.

Honestly, I was not as upset in the moment as I normally would be. I was happy that it was a really entertaining game and I felt like the fact that we played well was a very good sign for the rest of the season.

There is this. Go beat the brakes off Seton Small and take care of Wake and I’m over last night. It really stings though.

Why isn't anyone giving props to the dude that made that shot. I know about the out of bounds, but still one hell of a shot.
He only got an open look because he went out of bounds to avoid the defender and cut back in. Sorry but under the circumstance no tipping the hat applies. When it happened in Iowa that we lose on a miracle once in a lifetime legit shot off a legal tip - that’s when you tip your hat and move on…

I get what you’re saying, but would he deserve props if he stayed out of bounds and made the shot from the other side of the line?

Because legally, that’s essentially what he did.

If you told me yesterday afternoon that something as tragic as last night was going to happen to a B1G hoops team in such a critically important game, I would have know it was going to be us. I blame the universe.
We all know it’s that damned Indian burial ground

Since it was a lucky heave not a skilled shot. He even said he didn't even think he saw it going in. If being lucky deserves praise OK.

and, at that point, we also had to be concerned with them getting a two pt basket, since we were only up two..... so our defense was not all the way out there

I blame us for not defending better, and the foolish foul - with a whole 7 secs left.

How can you say that? Outside of not leaving one guy back to rebound on the missed FT (but then you risk a foul call), the last possession was defended perfectly. The guy was only open because by stepping out he had disqualified himself from being a scoring threat in regulation based on the time remaining. This wasn’t your typical 50 / 50 call. This was an obscure situation that now that it’s been publicized will go the other way more than 9 times out of 10 should it ever happen again.

Ive never liked leaving a free throw shooter alone in crunch time. I would just play it like any other foul shot.

With our luck they call a non existent foul on the rebound and we at least let them tie it up

I think the entire last 8 minutes no team had more than a 1-basket lead .. in those games the home team usually wins on a last-second shot. I thought that whole time that we’d be up by 1 and they run a play where Key hits a close shot as time expires. That seemed like the obvious scenario. So, strangely, when they hit the buzzer beater I wasn’t even tinged at all (Iowa corner 3 I was heartbroken) .. knew it was good the second it left his hand. Nothing surprises me anymore. And with our style of play (super D, no fast break O, bad 3-pt shooting) we will have more tight games than not, hence why there are so many buzzer beaters in our games, going both ways

Literally 4 last year alone (UMass L, Purdue W, Indiana W, Notre Dame L, also PSU W because PSU missed so really 5) .. Iowa L home, Nebraska W home, also in last few years.

Wish Pike would have said it’s a good win for our program today and add it in every-time he mentions it … great to be 7-2!!!!
