That's pretty much standard procedure at most media conferences I've been to unless you're a beat reporter and the coaches know you well. I don't know how they do things at Rutgers.

I am pretty sure that coach Wilson asked all reporters to identify themselves because he didn't know them. I can't remember where I read this, though.

Coach Wilson does the exact same thing at the Spring High School Coaches Clinic. He has a session in the Off. Backs Mtg. Room with the gathered High School Running Back Coaches. He explains that every coach can ask one question and must introduce themselves. The funny thing is that when he calls on you and you don't have a question he throws you out of the room. Coach Wilson is a great guy with a great sense of humor.

Sounds like a former boy scout...always be prepared!

Someone did a mash up from the post game press conference of "what's your name."

In the second video, the Star Ledger reporters respond. Politi is at 0:24

For the life of me, I don't see what the issue was with this. Really not a big deal at all and he should not have apologized yesterday.

I noticed in the presser yesterday, all of the reporters seemed to state names and companies, except you never heard star ledger. Guess they are embarrassed of who they work for -- I don't blame them.

The problem is it hurt the feelings of the little boys and girls in audience who want to be news reporters when they grow up. It was a shot at their egos that Coach Wilson didn't know who they were because they're all so important and they represent shining institutions of truth like the Star Ledger and nj.com. Dammit, and Coach Wilson didn't give them participation ribbons for their trouble either!!
