No difference between 3 or 4 games. Either way he must apply for a medical redshirt, and would likely get it if it could be established that the injury incapacitates him for the rest of the season.
He is eligible if it is season ending. He played in no more than 4 games (30% of 12 = 3.6 and any fraction is rounded up, so he could not have played in more than 4 games)...a criteria he satisfies as well as it happened in first half of season (another requirement).
If he's out for the year. Do you really think he would risk another injury next year coming back? Hell no. He's going to the league to get paid.
Grant is awesome. But you do see a definite spot in the NFL for him? as a ST player he is remarkable, but teams generally don't make NFL rosters with that as their calling card
Maybe he wants to get his degree and will stay. Let's see how it plays out.
If he is out the rest of the year AND I REALLY HOPE NOT, the chances of him getting drafted are slim after being out for the year with an injury. He should weigh all his options.
Devin Hester and all those guys played during the era before they changed all the Kicking rules. The age of the NFL kick return stud is over.
Devin Hester is the greatest return specialist ever. He'd be a HOFer if that type of player ever had a shot of making it. Whole different situation than Grant
Grant has enough game film where I really don't see his benefit in coming back for another season. Everyone knows what he is and what he brings to the table. I honestly have no idea what his NFL potential is. Obviously his value is limited by the rule changes, but damn he looks like an NFL player to me.
Love Grant but his game is ideal for the college level, particularly in our offense. I thought Tim Brown was a much better WR prospect (comparing both due to their small stature) and he couldn't get on an NFL regular season roster. I don't think Grant would either.
