I'm a devout positoid. I hate to call for anybody's job. I know it takes time to build a decent program in the B1G. I know our DBs are almost entirely freshman. I know our best DL has been out for the season. I know our best WR has been present for maybe half the season. I genuinely like KF and the type of person he is, in spite of the mistake about contacting the professor on behalf of a kid who turned out to be a criminal, not just an idiot.
But coming into the stadium on a beautiful if chilly November afternoon against a name opponent who is vulnerable this season, seeing the parking lots fairly empty, the stadium empty, the student section embarrassingly empty and the Nebraska fans' Go Big Red chant being louder than the R-U chant--well, that's the sign of a lifeless program.
It is difficult if not impossible to compete with the like OSU/Urban Meyers, and the UM/Jim Harbaughs, not to mentionthe used car salesman from Pennsylvania. But we need some energy, some hope. We need somebody who can do something better on the recruiting front than be a class act/gentleman. We need somebody who can coach up the 3* recruits and occasional 4* leftovers we can land.
I don't know who the guy is. I don't know if Rutgers and its large donors and supporters can afford whoever this might be. Give us a somebody with some charisma and coaching skills. Give us some hope. Give us some life. I'm truly sorry Mr. Flood but it is time.
