Well...I'd probably be labeled an optimist and view myself generally as a realist, but I'm ready for a change.

The team looks unprepared too often. I don't get what we are doing offensively. I don't get the playcalling. I have no problem with Laviano, but if he is your guy, show enough confidence in him to run the offense. The stubbornness to run the ball, come hell or high water makes no sense. I was listening to Fran Tarkenton the other day on the radio, and he was saying that the genius of Bellichek and the Patriots is that they customize the game plan for the opponent. One week they may run the ball only 5 or 6 times, other weeks, they will throw the ball only a few times. They figure out what the best way to attack the opponent and adjust each week. It seems as though we are so intent on running the ball that we are making it harder on ourselves than we need. We have the offensive playbook to attack teams in different ways, yet we don't.

I've been in the camp that says that Flood is OK...I never said Vince Lombardi-like...and felt like if we couldn't spend enough to get someone with a good chance of succeeding than we would be better off waiting. I'm moving away from that position. A new coach doesn't mean the end of the world, and it doesn't mean that the entire program needs to be torn down to the studs and rebuilt. There is some good, young talent in the program, and there are good recruits that I think would stick if we brought in someone that could inspire and motivate and lead. We are a rudderless ship and it pains me to say it because I wanted to like Flood and thought he did a nice job last year, but he lacks the courage to be bold and flexible in running the team.

I know there are excuses...some of which are legitimate. The secondary is young and he is breaking in a new QB, but that is college football. I think the kids fight and play hard, which is a credit to the players and staff, but are they really being put in a position to succeed?

I hate to do this at halftime of a game, but I've run out of steam and think that the kids in the program deserve a change.
