Basketball In sharpshooter PJ Hayes, Rutgers Basketball gets a hoops redemption story

Losing 18 pounds so far is one of the biggest off season stories. Won't impact his shooting and he will be quicker on defense. Pikiell said he is a food team defender which is important for Rutgers' approach.

Gotta hand it to PJ, losing 18 pounds had to be tough for him. He loves eating so much he protects the team's food!

😉

Witnessing Cam Spencer earn First Team All Big East accolades, win a national championship, then get drafted into the NBA has caused trauma for some Rutgers basketball fans. This trauma has resulted in dissociative amnesia, in which affected Rutgers fans do not remember Cam played at Rutgers.

Let's hope PJ's shooting touch stays with him here.

On scarletknights.com, the bio for PJ needs to be amended to indicate he played for the University of San Diego, not San Diego State.

These simple mistakes happen all the time on scarletknights.com player bios.

In December 2023, I saw Ogbole's bio listed him at 260 pounds in the info table at the top and 242 in the narrative. In June 2024, seven mott I noticed the same contradictory weight info was still there. This has been corrected, he is currently listed at 270 and 270.

Weirdest I've seen is a basketball player listed at both 6'2" and 5'10" on the same page of last year's media guide. That media guide listed Cliff at 6'11" and 6'1" but I'll put the latter height as a type.

Let's see when scarletknights.com gets PJ's former school right. Work that should take an athletic department staffer 10 seconds to fix could take 10 weeks to achieve.

No.
It was Cam choosing to leave when he did, how he did, without giving his Coach a heads up that that was even possible that has changed many Rutgers fans attitude so that they don't care about what he did here. That's different than amnesia.

Had he transferred to UConn early in the portal you would see a very different reaction.

Can we wait a few Big Ten games, at least, before calling someone a sharpshooter? What a Kiss of Death.

Did Cam shoot a higher percentage on his 3’s at UConn, surrounded by serious talent?

Hayes is a high percentage 3 point shooter. What is unknown is the number minutes he will play and the number of 3 point shots taken.
