Obviously a lot of moving parts are needed for this to come to fruition, but I read on the football board that Rowan may be considering moving up to D1 in Athletics. They'd need a ton of money to do so in something like football, but I'd be interested in seeing them go D1 in wrestling. South Jersey historically has a ton of wrestling talent with schools like Paulsboro, Collingswood, Delsea. Camden County and Burlington County I believe also have wrestling at the JUCO level. I think it'd be great to see Rowan Wrestling as a D1 program.

Matt, someone mentioned this on a post in the last few weeks but I can not find any newspaper article. They certainly will have enough students to go 1 AA in football and Division 1 in other sports.I believe the goal is to have a student enrollment of over 20000 by 2025. Some Division 1 schools have very tiny gyms and stadiums.Central Connecticut looks like they play in a junior high school. Some 1 AA football stadiums are also smaller than some high school facilities. The money for coaches, staff, aid, etc. is of course quite substantial, but schools much smaller than Rowan do it.

And many 1AA football teams play in a glorified HS football stadium. Nova plays I believe in a 5k stadium.

Many Title IX implications. Which is why there is no longer D1 wrestling at Montclair St and Seton Hall.

For every male getting an athletic Scholarship there has to be a matching number of female scholarships.

Pretty sure this has been the plan for Rowan from what I heard a couple of years ago. They want to go D1 across the board in next few years.

Rowan will be skipping D1 and entering the Premier League for soccer, NFL for Football, MLB for Baseball, WWE for Wrestling and NBA for Basketball.

I saw something in a post on the CSNbbs boards. There was a link to something that was quoting Rowan President, Ali Houshmand. It may have been a letter to alumni about the possibility that the move could happen if Rowan ever makes it to the 24,000 student goal. The only thing I could find on line was this - https://thepitchersmound.wordpress....s-excited-for-possible-move-up-to-division-1/
That is a link to a story from 2014 from what appears to be the Rowan student sports blog.
