Our rebounding numbers are inflated because our players miss so many shots. The FG% defense is because we played a handful of teams somehow even worse than us at shooting.
We're an extremely good offensive rebounding and a very good defensive team. That top-5 stuff is a mirage however.
I know what the metrics say about our SOS but 1/3rd of our schedule has been v. FSU, @Minny, MSU and SHU. Those defense and rebounding numbers are starting to mean something. Second year in a row that’s a strength. That is how you know we are well coached.
If I am not mistaken, I read that we are close to the top in percentage of our missed shots resulting in offensive rebounds. Our rebounding numbers are inflated because our players miss so many shots. The FG% defense is because we played a handful of teams somehow even worse than us at shooting.

You're both right. Our stats ARE amplified by the cupcake schedule, but we did play very good defense, and rebounded pretty well, against FSU, MSU, and SHU. We held SHU to 65 points, which was 17 points below their season average.
So despite the stats being inflated by our generally poor opponents, we are proving ourselves to be a very good rebounding and defensive team, as evidenced against the few tougher opponents we have faced.
