Braxton is coming in early. He will be on the two deep and play a lot.You have Kyle, a 4* DT coming in. You may not want to burn a redshirt but it's an option.
Very rarely do DTs get action as true freshman. Are they coming in in January?I'm guessing Rutgers is gonna use one or both of the excellent DT prospects in this year's recruiting class....Braxton Kyle and Jyon Simon as true freshmen.
I know Kyle is. And Kyle is not a normal freshmen DT.Very rarely do DTs get action as true freshman. Are they coming in in January?
A lot also think highly of the LB class this year.A lot of the recruiting people think highly of the DL class this year, especially the 2 DTs Kyle and Simon. However, it’s rare for DL’s to make an impact as true freshmen. RU will probably look to hit the portal hard for some experienced DLs for 2025. It’s an area of need.
Do any of them play in their freshman year?A lot also think highly of the LB class this year.
I'm not gonna guess, but some of them will at least play special teams.Do any of them play in their freshman year?
I'm surprised about Peterson as well. i saw him a number of times in high school and was pleasantly surprised when he chose Rutgers. The fact that we didn't see him at all this year...at a position where we could have used some help...is not a good sign.Surprised we have not seen Petersen. Hopefully he steps up next season. Highly recruited DL 2 years ago ..Nebraska, Illinois offers.
The jump from HS to college is large for most OL/DL especially when you play in a top power conference. Between S&C, technique, footwork, hands, etc. it's not uncommon for lineman to take two years before they are ready to contribute. Keshon Griffin, for example, only started making noise this year, his fourth year in the program.I'm surprised about Peterson as well. i saw him a number of times in high school and was pleasantly surprised when he chose Rutgers. No WAY he’s RS’ingYou have Kyle, a 4* DT coming in. You may not want to burn a redshirt but it's an option.
I was actually surprised we didn't lose him when Georgia came sniffing around. No WAY he’s RS’ing
He went JUCO out of HSFrom Paulsboro. Did RU recruit him out of HS?
As you said, "impact" is rare, but there's a chance in the rotation. Let's not forget we have Bethea and one of the Luman twins from the 2024 class.A lot of the recruiting people think highly of the DL class this year, especially the 2 DTs Kyle and Simon. However, it’s rare for DL’s to make an impact as true freshmen. RU will probably look to hit the portal hard for some experienced DLs for 2025. It’s an area of need.
Unfortunately, we don’t have the financial support to land the Sydir Mitchell’s. We’re shopping in the bargain bin. While there’s always a chance that money isn’t a factor, not going to hold my breathe.DL Sydir Mitchell of Univ of Texas (fromNJ) in class of 2022 declared for portal yesterday. Probably lot of teams go after him but so should we.
Makes me think of Aaron Lewis. Guys on elite teams with limited playing time can be an upgrade to us, incentive being a starterDL Sydir Mitchell of Univ of Texas (fromNJ) in class of 2022 declared for portal yesterday. Probably lot of teams go after him but so should we.
RS aren't what they used to be. With the portal you have to smoke em when you have em.No WAY he’s RS’ing
Especially with big, talented kids, from down south!!!RS aren't what they used to be. With the portal you have to smoke em when you have em.
I'm surprised this gets explained every year to no avail. The jump from HS to college is large for most OL/DL especially when you play in a top power conference. The two incoming freshman have the chance to make some noise, but you will see that they are at a different level compared to Peterson and Bethea, both in build and ability.
There's an old saying, "The closer you are to the ball, the longer it takes to adjust the game." It will help that the 2 DTs are enrolling early. That will help them to adjust to the S&C and school work and create good habits. There are exceptions to the rule. Kaleb Johnson started as a true freshman on the OL in 2011, so it's possible.I'm surprised this gets explained every year to no avail.
Is this his second time transferring?DL Sydir Mitchell of Univ of Texas (fromNJ) in class of 2022 declared for portal yesterday. Probably lot of teams go after him but so should we.
