Myles Johnson has elevated his game to such a high level both offensively and defensively

Kids a beast in the paint; he is in sync with his teammates; rebounds terrifically and is dominating inside

As Myles goes, we go

Not only am I amazed how he has elevated his game from last year but also from the beginning of this year.

We can dominate inside with him

Magnificent watching his progress game to game and also staying out of foul trouble.

Also really like Mulcahy in high post. Such a a good passer

Lafayette’s coach should have been fired on the spot.

Possession 1 in zone should have been a warning put in his file

Possession 2 in zone call security guards and let him go

Wonderful quick acknowledgement of zone and great execution (especially Paul)

I loved Myles game tonight and this year in generaL...but big BUT...this was Lafayette, Myles has definitely taken the next needed step as a soph in becoming a rebounding machine and a legit scoring option in the paint but this is still a team that will run through Geo and Ron first until Myles proves that he can go up and succeed vs the Georgies and Garzas of the Big 10. That next leap is going to be fun to watch though and I have no doubt eventually it will come, just not sure its fair to say it has come just yet

Nevertheless, when was the last time a Rutgers center has anything close to 18 points and 14 boards? Rashod Kent?

Myles provides a much-needed focal point inside, for RU to play the inside-outside game with Myles as an outstanding passer or finisher.

It also keeps the D honest, having to account for Myles at all times. He can pass out of the high post and you can’t give him much room in the low post or he’ll burn you at the rim. He’s also running the floor well and finding open spots to receive entry passes.

He’s a presence on D and a true shot-blocking threat. He had 2 blocks today but he altered many more shots. He’s a monster on the boards.

I agree it’s still Geo’s team, but I would describe it as a wheel with Myles in the center and Geo the key spoke among the four.

It was refreshing to see him getting fed when others had open looks. I forget when it was in the game now but RHJ was driving in close and could’ve easily taken the shot but dumped it to Myles for the slam.

He played both at different times here. In that game, it was Seagears/Mack/Moore/Judge/Jack and he was at the 5 spot. Only other center who played that game was 8 min from Greg Lewis.
Judge was the 5 on that squad and with that lineup. Kadeem was the 4.

I remember him spending a lot of time at the 5 that year - maybe not for the lion's share of any game. He must have for a good portion of that game, though.. Against Florida A&M, Judge/Lewis combined for just 30 min... so 10 of Jack's 33 came with neither on the floor.

Going back before Jack's time was probably N'Diaye in his senior season - but can't find any game-by-game stats for him.

Giorgi is not getting nearly as many shots as he did last year with Cockburn getting many looks.

It's everyone's team .Everyone who plays. Who coaches. Who sits in the stands. Who watches on BTN. We have all suffered. Now we all own it.

Also 0 fouls

That was his best stat of the game. The only thing that’s stopped Myles this season is foul trouble. He’s been victimized by some phantom calls, but it looks like he’s doing a better job of not fouling. When he’s on the court, he is a beast. Softest hands I’ve seen on an RU big man in decades. The last alleyoop pass he caught from Mulcahy was way behind him and he looked like he had stickum on his hands as he made the one-hand grab with full extension. Beautiful to watch.

BAC- Spot on comment. The level of competition will show how far Johnson has progressed .He didn't dominate against Seton Hall who have tall centers.Johnson has shown ,however, great improvement in making baskets after missed shots and working with Mulcahy on pass and dunk plays. His future on the court and in the class room is bright.

Well they went down 17-0 playing man to man so I’m not sure if I would fire him for trying a zone. They were overmatched.

Yeah and Geo didn’t dominate against MSU offensively but they both played great D those games. If you play a solid all around game you help your team win games.

Early on I said this team had 8-9 good players but no standout. I am seeing 3 guys who stand out and a young Freshman and grad transfer who I also like a lot.

Myles went for 8 points/13 rebounds/2 blocks/3 steals versus Seton Hall in 27 minutes. Seton Hall's two 7' Centers combined for 6 points and 4 rebounds. That is a big time game from a college Center.

I guess looking at it from that angle.........keep him, but him on the "hot seat", must win Patriot league.

In all seriousness you have to love how the team and Paul quickly recognized the zone and totally destroyed from the high post.

@Pils86 Averagng 41.5% shooting right now, which isnt really anything of concern for a volume guard.

Also averaging a shade above 12 points, 4.2 assists and 2.6 boards. Its his team without question. He is the leader, he sets the tone, he coaches and he clearly is the face of the program.

I agree. I thought he was way better than their centers. He pretty much bullied them.

I agree with the "only Lafayette" comment but with that said, Mulcahy and Myles seem to have a nice chemistry going on. I am really hoping to see that grow in the next few games.
