It Pays to Ace Non Existent Classes

I understand your frustration, but as I was driving back from work last night listening to the post game interviews. All the UNC players were well-mannered, well spoken and pretty literate. I don't think these kids are as stupid as you think

They're not stupid, but when will UNC be penalized for fielding a semi pro football and basketball team. Seriously, wtf is going on?

I don't think much comes in the UNC case. Time to move on.
If nothing much comes of this. This should signal that anyone can do whatever they want. If these UNC violations go unpunished then everyone can do the same thing and simply point to the precident which is being set. The fact that this seems to be no longer a blip on anyones radar and they are celebrating another championship is truly a sad joke.

Nothing will come of the UNC case. But God help the next program that has any kind of academic scandal. The hammer will come down hard and fast.

It is a farce. The NCAA has allowed this to linger with no punishment for a very long time. North Carolina should definitely still be punished. I think they should be stripped of their basketball and football championships from a long time ago but that they should probably be able to keep this current championship.

And that was their strategy. Run Four Corners and run out the clock until people say "enough is enough, this was a long time ago".

Pretty much nailed it.

They managed this brilliantly unfortunately and had the resources and internal support to do so.

Schools just don't get punished hard for infractions from a decade ago.

Only if the program isn't a prominent one. The bluebloods don't have anything to worry about. It's more likely that the NCAA will squash Directional Boondocks A&M like a grape instead.

Or the Kentucky one-and-done model. Why even go to class? Before they figure it out, you've declared for the draft.

The NC program has been (academic) cheating for decades, I'm sure the players on this years team are a fantastic group of guys. The program kept players eligible for years with these classes. My buddy, and his son in law, who's lived his entire life in North Carolina, are huge ACC/North Carolina (and Duke for my buddy) fans. Son in law said "if this were another program, they'd get the death sentence, that's how bad this is, and I'm a huge NC fan, lived my whole life there."

I don't buy the "you can't punish these players" etc for the past actions ... first of all this has been in light for years now so the players knew that there was the chance of something happening. Second they would all be allowed to transfer and play immediately. Third, you can argue that at least some of these players wouldn't be there if UNC didn't cheat their way to national titles and Final Fours for those 16 years which helps their perception and recruiting .. even if you take away those "wins" now, it doesn't matter these kids grew up seeing UNC in the NCAAs into the finals all the time. That has to be punished.
