I don't know how many have been following this recruit, but the reports out of PA so far are incredible. He has been a wrecking-crew through his first 3 games against what has been reported to be tough competition. Hard to believe he is only a 2-star recruit. Reading the articles it seems like the coaches struck gold with this one. This kid is legit at a position(DT/DE) where we lose players to graduation.

Two questions:
1. Who else offered ?
2. How do you pronounce his first name ?

There was a thread on this when he first committed. He was under the radar despite being first team all state as a junior. He had no offers. Then he came to a couple of elite camps at the beginning of summer and just dominated higher ranked recruits. He had all the measurables with room to grow - 6'2" 275-280lbs. People were shocked he had no offers and Rutgers offered him at a camp. He accepted immediately and committed to Rutgers. Not sure if he picked up any offers since, but his season started and he looks like a beast dominating tough competition in the Lehigh Valley. Projects as a DT in college.

I don't know how to pronounce his name. Jay-own?

He also played with an injury throughout his junior year.

I guess he's a little short? But not that short that he should have gone completely unnoticed.

only a 2 star though. Sounds like a Flood recruit.(I know, I shouldn't)

The 2-star ranking is what I don't get. Maybe I just don't understand how these things work.

I figured after the showing he put on in camps over the summer, where by all accounts he was the best lineman on the field which included some very highly ranked recruits, coupled with his showing thus far this season, he would receive a bump to at least 3-stars.

I agree about the height, but it seems in line with most NFL DTs who are in the 6'1" - 6'3" range and weigh 300+ pounds. For an 18-year old with his body type, which looks like solid muscle, he clearly has some room to put on more weight.

Either way, I think Rutgers stole one with this kid. Looking forward to following him the rest of the year and at Rutgers.

He is though. I'd peg him as a sleeper similar Jordan Hill. Recruiting services are fairly terrible at rating DT's other than the absolute freaks because it is a hard position to peg at a high school level since physical development plays such an important role for having success at the position. Here are some of Duggan's early season highlights.

2 of the Top 10 2017 DT's in Rivals rankings are listed at 6-2. Many others in the Top 20 are 6-3 or shorter. If he's a legit 6-2 would height even be a question?

It shouldn't be. I've also seen him listed at 6' 3" in some places. Seems right in line with DT measurables.

Are we seriously going to do this every year?

No. I didn't do this for any of the Flood's DT recruits any year except Sebastion Joseph to a degree. The overall Flood recruits that I thought would be sleepers compared to their recruitment were Janarion Grant, Kemoko Turay, Andre Boggs, Josh Hicks and Zach Venesky. I also felt the same way about Jordan Hill when he was committed to us.

That's a different distinction than being better than Hansard and Bolds. None of the aforementioned commits are better than the best RU target in NJ/NY Top 5 of that same year. Really, only Grant on the list above has been a contributor for one season, and IIRC it was a very down year for WR in NJ/NY that year. IIRC our top Targert (still in running as JR) was Will Fuller. He's in the NFL in case you didn't know.

I understand your point about hyperbole with recruits, particularly ones who are lightly ranked/recruited. Frankly, I was surprised when we offered him in the first place. Todderick Hunt was all over this kid in the early part of summer as were the RU coaches at the camps.

At this point, it seems as though he has continued his upward trajectory from the summer camps and taken it to a higher level on the field. I love that his team uses him as a TE/H-Back on offense and moves him around on defense. That really shows his athleticism.

I do not know how good he will be at the next level. I was just happy to share some positive news about a recruit who appears to be better than many initially thought.

Well in this case I think SC1221 may just have a point. He was injured when he played all last year. This year, fully healthy, he's a one man wrecking crew. He may just be better than Bolds and Hansard. From all I've heard Hansard is rated more on potential and measurements than actual play. The other past recruits some I agree with you, but he may just have a case with this one. He's not putting these types of numbers up against chopped liver either.

I liked Will Fuller a lot and thought he'd be a very good wr although he wound up being even better than I expected. It's not that I think Duggan is going to be some monster 1st round draft pick, I just think there isn't a whole lot of separation between him Hansard and Bolds. I personally think Hansard has a long way to go and is a prospect that is boom/bust. Bolds has talent but I think playing with Gary really boosted his stock, and in terms of measurables and movement he looks like a similar prospect to Duggan. Based on junior tape I agree that Duggan isn't at their level but he played all junior year with an injury and his early senior tape looks pretty impressive for two games, his burst and movement is similar to a DT prospect with way more offers.

Wow, I was completely wrong about him. I really liked him and thought he had potential. If I recall, Todd Hunt noticed him dominating at a camp and RU offered. Too bad, he seems like a nice young man and I wish him well.

Five DL transfers into the program in 2020. You just knew some already here would be leaving.
Limited playing time. A shame. I thought the guy had potential.
