Read the article and I STILL don't know if we are getting real grass or artificial grass. With an AGRICULTURE School on site, there is NO reason why our facilities should not be state of the art ,first class.Hey if they did the Beefsteak Tomato they should be able to do grass.

But in the article Ash said he doesn't want to practice on artificial turf because it's harder on the body.
With an eye toward player safety, Ash opted against returning to the practice bubble because turf can be too hard on bodies during the demanding daily and sometimes twice-a-day summer practice schedule.

But in the article Ash said he doesn't want to practice on artificial turf because it's harder on the body.

But that comment was more about practicing everyday for summer camp on the artificial turf. You still to have at least one artificial turf field.

So then we still need at least one real grass field. Which brings us back to the original question. Maybe these two will become one of each.

Considering Cook is right across the river still not sure why some of our fields aren't used as "classrooms" to make hardier and stronger grass.

We also have architecture, and engineering majors and schools, why dont they design and build a new basketball arena? Grant money drives alot. there is a turf course taught there, but no plots to test grass. Assume if somebody gave them the money they could focus on natural turf growth. Mot of the horticultur on Cook was focussed on consumable items like tomatos and corn etc.

We tried the real grass route during the Graber years and we used Cook College experts at the time - it was a disaster and resulted with the field coming up on National TV. Gotta go with the artificial stuff in the northeast.

Yeah, but as a result Miami only scored 6 points against us in the first half because everyone kept slipping. Disaster like a fox, I say.

Way to go Mr. and Mrs. Towers! That is a real class act, especially so after a disappointing season. Now let's go win some games for them!!!! Go RU

Awesome, when they were getting cozy with Flood and paid for his raise many here, including myelf had questions about his loyalty, was it to Flood or the program?

But it is clear now that we were all wrong, they are the real deal!

True, the article is confusing.

The way I read this part: "With an eye toward player safety, Ash opted against returning to the practice bubble because indoor turf can be too hard on bodies during the demanding daily and sometimes twice-a-day summer practice schedule."

As somebody noted above, the OUTDOOR turf is more modern and perhaps different than indoor turf?

Sounds reasonable to me.

Another question about the article I have: it sounds like this isn't a new donation, but a new allocation of the money for football?
The gift is part of the R Big Ten Build fundraising campaign centered around other sports but with crossover effects for football. It represents the earmarking of a previously made donation by the Towers family that was one of the three biggest private gifts in athletics history to jumpstart Rutgers' $100 million initiative.

from the story...

"I stare out my window every day at the practice facility and you've got old light poles that are tilted. They're not upright. You've got old lights that it looks like if you turn them on, they're going to start to smoke."

While we are at it.. how about replacing the lights INSIDE the stadium.

They are LOUD and not particularly good at lighting that field for TV. Is there a modern LED option for stadium lights?

Apparently there is

And build the pedestrian bridge over river road. And a tram car to carry fans back to college ave. Monorail would be nice.

That's the first thing that struck me, that this may not be "new money" just re-purposing an existing donation that was already included in the BIG Build fund total ... and that they went this long without a public acknowledgement of the biggest donation

They are going to be grass. The article says new grass fields I think three times. And yeah, Rutgers has the best Turf Management program in the country, so I would imagine at the very least they will maintain the fields even if they're not installing them
