Most interesting nugget here is Carino saying that, in the offseason/preseason, the RU coaching staff thought that Reiber was one of the team's best players, but then Reiber suffered the foot injury and he's still making his way back from that.

A lot of people on these boards have been saying that Reiber only sat out for a week and has been practicing for several weeks, so it's not the injury holding him back. But that doesn't mean he's 100%, nor does it mean he has gotten back into the groove he was apparently in prior to the injury.

That thought crossed my mind, but ultimately I don’t think it’s just Jerry trying to save face.
