This guy?

51-32
2 time SEC eastern division champ
Sec coach of year
MWC coach of year
Took over 1-11 CMU and probably going to conference championship year 1.
You know, just in case

Solid choice not sure how his offense is doing at CMU but for an offensive coach he couldn't get a solid qb and the offense going at UF IIRC....so that would concern me a little but he did do a good job with the offense at CSU too. I liked him better than BJ though personally cause he won the SEC east despite those troubles on offense.

Too lazy to break down his O now but he was 16-6 in SEC so he must have scored some points

Took a quick look and the offense was ranked in the 100s total/scoring during his tenure there...I remember they had issues on offense and finding a qb which was surprising considering his offense at CSU was good and of course he was OC at Alabama but harder to judge that due to all the talent. His CMU offense ranks in the 30s and 50s so not bad for year 1. I've mentioned him before and think he's a solid option as long as he stays away from cuckoo death threat comments lol.

Not named Greg or Gary. Not from NJ. No NJ ties. Pass

He was actually my top choice I mentioned from the start. Checks every box in my opinion.

Pass.
Friend of mine who is a Florida grad and follows the team closely, said that McElwain was arrogant, standoffish and had no clue how to put an offense together.

yes, including not from NJ box, his team always collapsed at the end of the season box, and his offense sucks box.

2015: After clinching the SEC Eastern Division championship, the Gators suffered consecutive blowout losses to Florida State, Alabama, and Michigan by a combined score of 97-22.

2016: McElwain won a second consecutive Eastern Division title in 2016. However, that season saw a second-half collapse against Tennessee and blowout losses to Arkansas, Florida State and Alabama.

In McElwain’s two-plus seasons, the Gators offense was ranked 111th, 116th and 112th (at the time of his firing).

McElwain committed the cardinal sin (in Gainesville) of losing to FSU twice, so they fired him. If he'd lost to Georgia twice, they would have killed him.

Need a guy who can put up points without the benefit of equal or better rosters.

My mind always goes to the spread air-raid guys for that reason.

Resumes don't matter much in this "search". And yet we still don't have any confirmation of an impending hire.

A reference to why Florida fired him?

"After failing to find any evidence to substantiate claims made by McElwain this week that his family and players received death threats, Florida administrators have worked to see if the coach's allegations were enough to relieve the university from paying his full buyout of $12.76 million if he were to be fired."

He was fired within a week, after Georgia clobbered Florida in the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.

There are only two things you can't do as head coach of the Florida Gators.

You can't lose to FSU and you can't lose to Georgia.

Everything else is negotiable.
