what time does parking open up at Johnson park? Was planning on going early, but heard from a friend they don't allow anyone to park there until 4 hours before the game?

Yeah, I know.... But they have gameday parking and charge 30$, thanks for not answering my question.

I've also heard 4 hours. 5 tops. A couple years ago I got there 3:50 before a game and was like 10th person in. Things may have changed with the opening, especially for a night game but the official party line I think is 5 hours before game.

If you find out anything please post. I was at the park for Indy last year and love this spot. Planned on getting there by noon for the 8 pm OSU game.

Are you allowed to tailgate there with no additional restrictions? Just curious, because it's a county park so I wondered if they banned alcohol or limited you to your car area and not let people use the picnic areas.

Here's my advice:
Try to park at Johnson Park whenever you arrive & pay the attendants when they get there.
If the parking lot at Johnson Park is roped off & you can't get in, try the Med School lots. I've seen them before they open and it appears to be pretty easy to drive around a traffic cone and get in. Again, when the attendants arrive, pay them then. This assumes you are tailgating with your vehicle.

5 hours is the max. Im showing up at 2:45 ish anyway. Honestly, as long as you pull up in a vehicle with Jackson and Hamilton, they'll let you set up shop. The key is that if there are attendant's there to take your money, they won't turn you away most likely if it's at a somewhat reasonable time.

one entrance past the cop lot from the North ain't bad for those who can hoof it. Go to the tennis courts and keep going to the river if you can't get in from river Road before tennis courts from the South.

No restrictions at all. We drank a bunch and we had plenty of kids running around the park playing a football game of their own. Some people will complain it can get a bit muddy but we don't care

You are probably right. But because this is the defending national champ coming to town for a showdown on ESPN I want to be set up by noon in Johnson Park. I hope it works out.
