Juco big from San Jacinto on campus for official according to Zagoria. Candido Sa.

See him listed at 6'9" 215lbs SF from Portugal. 23 years old will be 24 in November.

San Jacinto -- the halfway house between Long Beach State and Rutgers for Les Cason. Thank you, Dickie V.

I think what we are seeing is a transition from offense to defense as the focal point of the recruiting.

The people that watched the press conference with Pikiell noticed that he wants to be very mobile defensively. I don't think there is any mistake in taking or recruiting athletes that have the ability to run and jump, even at the expense of bulk/strength. The ability to defend pick and roll/pick and pop type of offenses that teams want to run will be the only way to approach the Top 100 in National rankings on defense and if you eventually pile up enough players that have long arms and footspeed, you bother teams on defense and get the FG% lowered. At that point it's up to the coaching staff to teach the process of rebounding/boxing out and worry about the offense and scoring afterwards.

I have no idea if this player can score or shoot, but I also know you can't win giving up 80+ points per night either. If this kid helps drop that PPG against RU down below 70PPG, then you have a better chance to win.

I suspect you may find the Rutgers hoops staff and Mr. Sa dining at the Ironbound section of Newark tonight. Can anyone suggest a great Portugese or Iberian restaurant there?

Always go Spain Inn

Need a big body more than scoring..as long as he's better than Doorson and Diallo

First off the stats listed above were for the 2014-15 season, his first year of Juco.

I just looked up his second year which is much better (2015-16). Both years are listed under google.

32 games
28 minutes per game
45.9% on fg's
35.1% on 3's
69.1% on foul shots
242 rebounds for 7.6 per game
123 blocks for 3.8 per game
9.8 points per game

His blocks are listed as #1 for Juco. I think we get this guy if we can.

I just checked the national individual JUCO stats and Candido was #2 in the nation for blocks. I think the #1 was for his league or region. He did average 3.8 blocks per game. The leader was 5.9, a guy from Gillette.

Nice

That's a stupid and uncalled for shot at those players.. Making negative comments about big men that only played one year and are still developing.

Oh please give me a break. Not a shot ..Just stating a fact that they are not B1G players right now. They are big boys. I see the helicopter parents are back.

It may not have been intended as a shot, but it's hard to read it any other way. Our players don't need to be referred to as having set a low bar.

We could be the only athletic program in the country with two Sas. Erik Rutger Sa plays soccer for RU
