Fvcking horrendous. I never blame a loss on the refs, even if they are putrid.

This game? I am not sure.

Pretty much everyone agreed – - with a couple of exceptions.

to me, my beef is on the inconsistency of it all

bball is like football in that you can call fouls (penalties in fball) on every play. so there is a HUGE amount of discretion. yet, we seem to be on the short end of numerous judgment calls that dont go our way. this is clearly something that affects bad teams more than good teams. and we're considered a bad team...so it impacts us more. that is just the way it is. but it doesnt mean we cant call it out

what makes me crazy are the # of times we get hosed on the clear calls/no calls. a travel is a travel. extra steps are extra steps. how those get missed...man, its just frustrating. and it does happen regularly.

I've disagreed with people complaining about the refs a couple games this year but that crew last night was horrendous. Some of the calls they missed or didn't make were blatant and inexcusable.

With that said RU still wins this game if they hit 3-4 more free throws and don't foul the three point shooter twice.

Yep...there is a big difference in saying the refs suck, vs. the refs suck AND cost us the game ( which I know you're not saying...and I agree with you)

I thought we got a pretty fair whistle in the first half. The second half was another story altogether!

I agree with your viewpoint that bad teams tend not to get the calls from the referees. In Rutgers case it's shown even at home games. At the same time the refs didn't decide this game but rather Rutgers inability to make foul shots or stop Ohio State from making critical 3 pointers.Teams that have a long history of losing tend to find ways to allow opponents to overcome their shortcomings and still defeat Rutgers.

If you just take away the 3 blatant traveling violations they missed. I believe two were in the first half towards the end that led to 6 OSU points that is the game right there. Also the last call on Corey was terrible the player has to be set before the offensive player leaves his feet and this was not even close! I also agree with the other posters if we shoot foul shots we win this game with ease. The only other game this year that was reffed this bad was the Seton Hall game

Looking at the highlights on the 4 point play a moving screen could/should have been called on the OSU big.
which was called Numerous times on Gettys. Inconsistency at its finest.

Can someone elaborate a rules question for me. On a blocked shot, if the defender makes contact with the player after the ball, is it considered a foul? The shot gets blocked but defender makes contact with the shooter. I don't get why the 3 point shot this would be a foul but blocked shot on a layup it isn't a foul?

precisely...they were nowhere near the deciding factor and didn't alter the game one way or the other
every game refs are a deciding factor period. They dictate how the game is played. For instance, we were called for goal tending and then not even 3 minutes later or so a clear goal tending wasn't given against OSU.

Feet were never set and jumped in after Corey left the ground and moving. Bad call on level.

9-10 times that is a charge..easy call for the ref if you ask me. Corey knew it when he left his feet; I love the aggressive play, but that was better rotation defense.

I agree that that was moving screen, but that is a call that is missed more than it is made. I am more upset with the missed goaltend, traveling violations and the charging call against Sanders. And on that play I do have to give the shooter credit for being able to catch, set up on a dime and shoot so quickly that Williams, who was struggling to get back into position after being bumped on the screen, could not pull up and avoid contact.

I do not understand why some people above are saying that it was not the officiating that cost us the game, even though it was bad, it was the free-throw shooting. These are not two mutually exclusive things. We could have won if we got EITHER good foul shooting or a fair shake from the referees. And I agree with the poster above that said that only this game and the Seton Hall game have been so horrendously officiated this year.

B1G conference games are noticeably reffed worse than other games imo. Something the conference needs to address.

Then 9 times out of 10 that would be a bad call. Announcers said as much as they watched replay and realized that it really was a bad call. Comically sad.

The main reason we don't get the calls is because we look out of control and force things.
