The stud DT was on campus last weekend but I see that he still hasn't committed. Are we still in the mix?

Why would a 4 star DT go to Temple when he has a chance to play in the SEC? I realize he is from the Philly area, but please. Surprised Ash didn't get this kid to look at Rutgers more seriously.

Todderick just tweeted about him:

Hearing #Rutgers was grinding, closing in on Karamo Dioubate as he was on campus sunday, but just missed out on the 4-star DT in the end.

So there's many folks frustration so far. Not like we didn't have our good shot and couldn't close the deal on a fairly local guy. Damn.

Too bad. Again, since the coaching staff kept striking out on prospects in NY/PA/NJ you would think that they would be able to bring in decent guys that were recruited at their old schools. Instead we're replacing decommits with 2 star unknowns with no FBS offers, it's tough to keep looking at the bright side of this class...

Was never coming here so I'm not going to worry about him, however, enjoy playing in front of 60,000 empty seats kid.

There's a reason why Franklin told him to take a hike. Not all is what it appears.

Honestly, you have to stop. Franklin didn not tell him to take a hike in any possible way. Dioubate is, by all accounts, a top-shelf kid.

It's just a huge win for Matt Rhule and Temple, who out worked everyone on this, including some of the real big boys. Stop trying to diminish it with outright lies.

From what I am reading seems to be a quality kid. Appears Alabama tried to come in at the last minute to swoop him up. This was the type of kid I thought Ash could land even with his late start. Oh well, there is always next year.

I get that Temple had a great year and Rhule seems to be a good coach, I have no doubt he will be coaching at PSU sooner rather than later. I have no idea why a kid would go to Temple when you have other choices. I was being recruited by them for track back in the day and within 15 minutes of my on campus visit I told my dad there is no way I am coming here. Add in the atmosphere at their games last year hit an all time high, its not going to be any better than that.

We better hope Rhule moves on given the number of kids who selected his AAC program over ours. He might be more of recruiting threat at penn state than Franklin given what has transpired.

Lmao. Love how these posters continue to think and imagine my alma mater sits in a war zone. I hope the poster that is asking for Philly advice has the time during his visit to venture up North Broad for a simple drive by evaluation of what's gone on in and around North Broad and Montgomery over the past 10-15 years. You wouldn't think that now if you visited today and the kids visiting campus today see that.

He just announced he is going to Temple. Amazing, simply amazing.
Is this kid from Philly or local.....if so good for Temple and him....i admire and respect a kid spurning the factories and coming to the more local schools. I wish we had more kids like him around here who don't buy the bs a UM,JB or worse Franklin sells them.1 thing's for sure...TU has gotten it right concerning their coaching hires ala UCinn and show a real commitment to FB. A few big yrs and the fans will come..

Ash and co. are simply disappointing. Beaten out by Temple? Have you looked at the schools we competed with for the players he signed? You can't compete in the B1G with those players let alone the AAC, or MAC or whatever. The only thing we have to look forward to with this class is that the staff will be amazing developers, bt I doubt it. We should have sold the house for Ruhle.

I understand the disappointment withe class, but Ash did get/ keep somevery good players, Pollock, Jabbie, Sneed, krimin, Manning and Oden. A lot of the other players are projects. I personally think that Lansdorf will be a nice player as well. Out of the remaining 8-9 players if 2-3 surprise then this recruiting class will be better than advertised. If RU took 5 marginal 2 star players additionally they would be in the High 50's in recruiting. Just didn't have a lot of volume in this class.

TIFWIW, but from everything we've heard about Dioubate throughout his recruitment, the family doesn't have a lot of money and wouldn't be able to go see him play, maybe not even occasionally, depending on where he went to school. For a while he had lots of trouble just being able to take regional visits because he had to find someone to bring him. Kid looks like a very good prospect, and I hope staying in the city doesn't come back to bite him at some point.

There's more to it then that (I come in peace btw) there's plenty of ways to get to state college or New Brunswick cheap. He'll IM sure there's plenty of people associated with each university that would be happy to offer a ride. Either way hope it works out for the kid bc his tape and stats are monster, he had something ridiculous like 18 sacks this year as a DT.

Best of luck to him

I'm aware of the other issues related to Dioubate and his Penn State recruitment. I was just trying to give these guys some insight as to why he'd choose Temple over USCe.

Temple was just on game day. Ash told us how people aroundthe country view Rutgers as a joke. I think we need to realized the truth. It hurts because we know, clearly, we have had a lot of success the last 10 years and should be viewed as respectable with potential, but I don't think we are and that's because locally we don't rally support like Philadelphia does with temple. Meanwhile, Matt Rhule, a la Schiano, is bigger than the program itself. Players are committing to him first, and with Temples commit to football growing stronger, he has enough to sell to lock kids up.

Let me get this out of the way first so any Temple fans don't get upset: Temple beat Penn State in 2015, and it was very upsetting. Now...

Temple was a nice story this season, but Philadelphia doesn't "rally support" behind the Owls. Attendance against against PSU and Notre Dame was 69,176 and 69,280, respectively. Temple's four other home games, including one against a ranked Memphis team: 35,179; 31,372; 31,708; 28,236. The average city resident doesn't care. Really, the average Temple student/alum doesn't even care. I'm curious to see what kind of support Temple gets from the city itself in its efforts to build an on-campus stadium.

97.5 on a regular basis will tell you differently. People may concede Temple is little brother to Penn St (Temple fans will say different now) but even so, they never denigrate Temple as such. At least this year. And all the success Temple is having is based off this year.

I think if the program continues to have seasons like 2015, we can probably grow our fanbase to 40-45k. That's why the stadium is geared towards a 35k capacity to begin with. You stated our season averages for the league games. That's our ceiling for now. Staying relevant will be how the city and neighborhood get behind and support the project.

I listen to 97.5 every day. Temple doesn't get crapped on because Temple is rarely talked about at all. It's similar to Rutgers and WFAN in that respect.

@Owlfan_in_North Jersey I tend to agree with you, and I'm in favor of Temple having an on-campus stadium. You have to admit, though, that having "seasons like 2015" is a lot easier said than done. Temple remains firmly in the prove-it phase, and probably will for a few seasons, all while having to fend off bigger schools coming after Rhule.

" I have no idea why a kid would go to Temple when you have other choices. I was being recruited by them for track back in the day and within 15 minutes of my on campus visit I told my dad there is no way I am coming here."

Did you get to meet The Cos ?

Reversing the trend in RU SJ recruiting begins with getting Timber Creek back on line. Huge first step.

OwlFan_in_NorthJersey seems like the type of Temple fan I can talk to.

Unlike JHG22. That guy's just obnoxious.

Quite simple it is a better education.
More ethnic diversity outside of the jocks usce is lily white
and he is home for the weekends and family can watch all his home games.
And he does not have walk into a frat house and see Jefferson David over the fire place. (yes true story)

Rhule I think is on North Broad for an extended period of time. His wife loves Philly and what it offers and we're paying him close to 3 mil a season now. Think it's 2.6 to be exact.

The key season in whether we maintain the momentum is 2017 for the keys will either be handed over to Frank Nutile or Anthony Russo to lead us. If either of them perform like they've been billed by the talent evaluators, then I think our program stands a great chance of going on an extended bowl run and that's going to translate into us getting better recruits.

Regardless of the sport there always seems to be a lame excuse why top recruits don't choose Rutgers.

Temple fans, congrats. But why are you on a Rutgers site congratulating yourselves?

Temple fans,is there any movement on building a stadium? Is the issue money or lack of land ?

You're on the wrong fanbase page....go to Temples board...unless your so insecure you feel the need to advertise in in dark caps on our board..and I'm glad to see TU do well..

Heaven,

Site is picked out. Would form a complex with McGonigle, the practice facility and the Apollo/Liacouras Center.

Financing it seems to be on the right track too although the final cost is going to be well over 100 million IMO.

Sticking point? There are a few, but I think a major one is closing down 15TH St and removing it from the city grid. The city council and mayor have to vote and approve that measure and lastly, the neighborhood still needs to give their blessing.

The R is for Rationalization.

This recruiting season was a disasteR

Still sore that you're stuck between a dream season that crashed and burned and a dismal future, huh?

I'd probably be spending more time on another team's message board, too.
