Khaseem Greene Released by Bears

How does his contract with the Bears play out? In his contract, according to wiki:
Greene signed a four-year, $2.592 million contract. The deal included a $432,092 signing bonus. Greene will earn in 2013: $405,000, 2014: $495,000, 2015: $585,000, 2016: $675,000.

It's a shame. He had a phenomenal final two seasons. I thought he was going to fit well in Chicago... when they ran the Tampa 2. Dallas might be a nice fit (esp. as an RU-Cowboys fan).

Dayam, this one hurts. Khaz is one of my all-time favorite Rutgers players (keep this on the downlow, but his is the only jersey I own). He should get a shot with another team.

NFL contracts are total BS. It's all about guaranty money. If it's not guaranteed and you get cut, they owe you nothing. KG was a product of the system. He is not physical enough to play LB in the NFL. Maybe a good fit in the CFL.

He got the bonus and the 2013 and 2014 checks. I think we're early enough in 2015 he doesn't get any of that. He made $1.3M in two years. Nice job.

He got really slow. His time with the bears was nothing like what he looked like at RU. Even in the College All star games he was not getting to the holes very fast. What ahppened? That injury in the Pin Stripe Bowl?
Shame..hope he lands somewhere and can get it back

He actually wasnt that great with the Bears. I thought he would have been much better after that monster senior year. I think he's just one of those that didnt translate well to the NFL...

Classic tweener. Couldn't bulk up without losing the burst that made him special in college. He's pretty much a special teams & pass rush package guy at this point. Not much value there since those are a dime a dozen and there are younger and cheaper options. Still one of my all time favorite Knights.

Was at the Bears / Dolphins game with clients last season... Awful game, boring... I kept my eye on Greene since there was nothing else to do and hoped to see a RU guy do well.. IMHO he was sleep walking, by the middle of the third quarter you didn't see him again... Not surprised to see this ... Hope he gets another chance

Definitely rooting for Khaseem to land on his feet - one of my favs too.

Scheme fit will be everything for Khas. He needs to end up on a squad that utilizes many sub-packages (Todd Bowles, Jets & BB, Patriots come to mind).

Checked out some news articles. It looks like the Bears are switching to a 3-4. So not only did Greene fail to make an impact in their "Tampa 2" scheme, he's way too small for their new one.

Good news!... close to home so if he stays on the roster then there's a chance I'll be able to see him play

Greene should look to the Gary Brackett usage example.. Greene is an undersized LB good at pass coverage as a former safety, he needs to be with a high scoring team whose opponent will be looking to throw the ball to keep up.

Of course, the opposite was also true.. when those teams fall behind, the other team tries to run to eat clock.. and a smaller LB will be on the bench.

If Brackett were not on high-scoring Indy with Peyton at the helm, maybe he doesn't last long at all. Instead, he had a great career.
