Now that was weird. I'm sorry but this kid just made himself look like an ass.
 
I wish you couldn't commit to a school until NSD.. This kid was funny doing this, but holy hell a verbal means nothing now a days

Was my first thought. Well, my second. My first was that the kids who are making use of social media to this extent, regardless of which school they attend, better perform on the field or their own teammates will look at them as dooshes. I think it was Tebow who took some criticism from his NFL teammates for doing some commercials that had him made out to be a star, since he hadn't played a down in the NFL when the commercials were aired. In Tebow's case, at least he made some money, but the high school kids are putting pressure on themselves to kick ass right from the start.

And then Turay blocks the kick.
 
Don't we have another thread that's chastising BWI for making fun of a recruit?

Didn't mean to offend. But I would make the same statement about any kid who made a video like this where ever he was going. It has nothing to do with psu. They all look stupid in my opinion. Maybe I'm just old school but the look at me, look at me thing doesn't work for me, I guess it does for you.

Kid clearly needs to get up to speed on ped state traditions. He should have waited until Monday to release that video so as not to ruin anyone's weekend.
 
Ask any football player about kickers...#1 kicker is still the sh*t on everyone else's cleats. He'll wish he didn't make that video Day 1 of camp.

Not having a good kicker cost PSU two games in 2012. Having that poor kicker evolve into a very good kicker allowed PSU to win two more games in 2014. Kickers mean a lot.
 
It a little over the top but it far from the worse commitment display. In the end he just a kid and kids do silly things. Kids make videos. It no big deal. Is it that more rediculous then the hundreds of press conferences to announce. The only reason this is getting attention is because it is different. At least he didn't didn't do the wear one school gear just to take it off to find another schools shirt.

I think it funny people minimizing the impact of a kicker especially Rutgers fans. Rutgers football program biggest win came off a second chance field goal. If Ito had missed that what would be the high water mark for the program? The victory over a 5-6 Penn State team in 1988? Winning the Texas bowl?

Like I said...I wish we had a good field goal kicker. To only have 4 FGs of greater than 40 yards in an entire season is not all that great. A long of 45 is nothing to write home about. I'm talking about having a weapon that can consistently put 3 pts. on the board every time the offense makes it to the 30 yard line.

PSU's news recruit will eventually replace Sam Ficken. For comparisons sake, here is Ficken's stat line from last year:

Total FGs: 24/29 (82.8%)
PAT: 28/28 (100%)
20-29 YDS: 8-9
30-39 YDS: 7-9
40-49YDS: 8-9
50+: 1-2
 
I don't minimize the position. It's just a very douchy commitment video and I would consider it to be douchy even if it was a 4 star RB or whatever. Good kicker. Personality seems to fit PSU well, so it was a good choice for him.
 
Ficken was never a weapon at PSU. At the beginning, he was disliked by the fanbase and was actually pretty terrible through he handled his struggles with class. But he had a very good senior year. This kid, number one in the US, is still in high school and has never kicked a single field goal in college. Meh.

Ficken was a weapon as a senior. You cannot be more wrong about that.

At worst, Nordin will be a huge asset on kickoffs. At a kicking camp, his worst kickoff went 59 yards. All of his other kicks went into or out of the end zone. Kid's got a huge leg.

We Are.....douchebags!

There was an announcement video from the top OG in the nation that I saw a couple of weeks ago that was interesting. He pulled a yellow school bus forward by 20 yards to display a Notre dame logo in the road.
