So now that we know who the new OC will be and understand Kill's relationship with Madei Williams, who would you rather have as the OC of Rutgers?

I'd take Kill. He's a more experienced coach in general and at the very least he can be a helpful ear on HC issues/management for Ash.

Kill for experience, but hope he isn't the playcaller, think we'll see someone else do that

Drew might wind up being a great OC in the future, but we cannot afford to suffer through
his learning process.... take the experienced guy right now, without regrets if Drew shines later

If you are concerned about Kills health..here is an update in his own words in this article;
http://www.kansascity.com/latest-news/article121688342.html

Last month, he told the Eagle he was in terrific health. A low-carb diet, prescribed by his epilepsy doctor, helped him lose 25 pounds. He sleeps more and exercises daily. His energy went way up.

“I would say I feel about 90-percent better than I did a year ago,” Kill said last month. “I would probably still be coaching had I felt this good then. But I have changed a lot. I went from 2 1/2 hours of sleep for 12 years to six hours of sleep now. That is a huge deal.

“I have changed my life, and K-State has allowed me to change my life. I am more relaxed and I have been able to take time to take care of myself.”

Had he felt so good at Minnesota, he added, he would not have stepped down as head coach.

How can anyone take the poll and not pick other? Not saying that as being dissatisfied by the Kill hire but "other" leaves a wide latitude of better, but unrealistic choices.

The poll should only take into account purportedly "better" and REALISTIC choices. For example, we are not getting Greg Schiano or Don Brown or Kirby Smart.
EDIT- meant to list unrealistic choices for OCs at RU, but listed DCs. Monday malaise. . . . .

big Schiano fan here, but when was Schiano a B10COY Smart COY like Kill was in 2014?

Was not advocating for any of them. None of them were eligible to be B1G COY 2014.
The only realistic choices that come to mind of who RU could have approached that had P5 experience:
Dan Werner just fired from Ole Miss
Tony Franklin
Brady Hoke[roll]

The point I was trying to make with the names I listed is that none of them would leave their current job to come to RU as OC. That said, I had a brain cramp, as they were all DCs--we were not going to get Ed Warinner from tOSU, Jonathan Smith at Washington, or Tony Elliott from Clemson to come to RU.

Rutgers really dropped the ball not hiring Chip Kelly as the OC.

Clearly they don't care.about winning and should switch places with Uconn.

Even at Minnesota his offenses were not good, defense was what won them games. Him out recruiting and mentoring is perfect, but someone who hasn't called offensive plays in over a decade wouldn't make a ton of sense

Fridge had not called plays in over a decade when he came on as OC and was great hire.

When was the last time Greg Schiano was a DC before taking the OSU job?

16 years... it was 16 years ago.

What the hell was Urban thinking hiring him right?

Sorry but your logic is flawed,

The difference is when Greg was a head coach he still had great defenses and improved on that side of the ball. Kill didn't turn their offense around or make them a scoring power. Kill won with defense, so again I think it's a great hire overall, just as long as he has a separate play caller

Minnesota recruiting base does not give them much access to the type of skill players you need to have a high powered offense. The obvious thing for them to do is focus on ball contol and good defense, which Kill wisely did. RU is looking to bring in dynamic athletes to fill the skill positions...allowing Kill to open up the playbook a bit. Let's wait and see what he does with speedy playmakers RU is bringing in.

Kill wins. Good enough for me.

Our offense this year absolutely sucked. Never seen an "O" so bad, ever. Ash could have handed Oden the ball, and said "Go make $hit up in the huddle." And we would have done better.

Short of a proven P5 OC genius, a very solid hire.

Look at it this way.. maybe he could have called the O better in Minnesota... but he was head coach.

IIRC.. there was a time when GS.. a defensive guy.. did not like how the offense was going and decided to take it upon himself to fix it.. and he did. While GS was always a bit too conservative.. especially with a lead.. we have no idea what Coach Kill will do now that he is refocused on being OC and calling the plays. Since he was once a successful OC, I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt for some time.

Folks here are not shy about criticizing what they see on the field. If he is not getting the job done it will be obvious to all.

As for me, my judgement will probably be decided on whether or not I am watching a game and thing... that was a great play call... or.. that was a great designed play called at the right time... or even.. that was a well executed play.. coaching and practice is paying benefits.

We had practically NONE of that this year. So, for me, it is not even about winning or scoring points necessarily.. a good play call might not be executed well. I just want our offense to look "smart" because there are 2 or 3 programs in the big Ten east who would seem to always have a talent advantage on us. So we need to be smart.. and play with heart... the rest will work itself out.
