Made the mistake of turning that on for a minute, and then remembered Rutgers fans aren't allowed to enjoy college basketball ever again.

Only Chopping could ruin this game by bringing up Jordan
I'm not wondering how the top two ranked teams in the Country can give up so many open 3 point shots. Lack of effort ? Poor coaching ? Not practicing how to close out on 3 point shooters?
What do you think?
You're the one with all the answers
Got it.....answering does not fit your narrative and/ or agenda Mrs Hurley.....lol
I don't argue with fools
Agree with you and Frank. Our long-term situation has really drained every last bit of enthusiasm I have for college basketball. This was the first sport I every followed and loved to watch. I caught the end of this though and it was a tremendous game. It's just hard to watch when you see that we are so far away from being competitive.haha yes its pretty tough to watch real basketball, it just makes me depressed at our situation

The difference is these teams have players who can make open 3 point shots and every other kind of shot .Talent and coaching matter and that is lacking at Rutgers.Lots of defense being played.....how many wide open 3 point shots did Oklahoma have? My bad, only Jordan coached teams give up 3 point shots.
update: Oklahoma just hit two wide open 3 point shots to open the 2nd Overtime. Who is their coach....Eddie Jordan.....NO, it's Bill Self and number 1 ranked Kansas.

Kansas is No. 6 adjusted defense in the country.
Oklahoma is No. 7 adjusted defense in the country.
That's sort of like Eddie Jordan's defense
I know Choppin you support Eddie and it is admirable. He has been dealt a bad situation and has not been able to get us out of it.The conversation was about the defense last night, Kansas vs. Oklahoma. Did you see great defense or did you see both teams giving up wide open shots ?

However, that game last night was the best regular season game I have ever seen and I have been watching for 50 plus years. The skill on that court that probably had 5-6 Nba players between both teams is what allowed it to be played at the highest level.
The defense was outstanding. Frank Mason played some of the best denial defense and in your face defense on Buddy Hield and Buddy still scored 46. It wasn't because of lack of defense. In fact , the last 2 plays in the game involved great defense on a Hield spin in the lane causing a steal and turnover and the sideline play by Mason to deflect the inbound play. However, Mason crossed the 3 foot line and should have been whistled or warned.
Again , if you could not enjoy that game played at the highest level, offensively and defensively with maximum effort and skill then you just do not enjoy basketball. That was most classic best regular season game you will ever see. You should have just enjoyed it instead of injecting Eddie into that game.
Kansas and Oklahoma actually have players with skills that they develop. Funny how that works.Didn't watch the game, but considering how uncommon 30 pt games are to get in college, let alone 40, by two players on the same team? I would venture to say that there was probably no defense you could've thrown at them that would've kept them in check.
Like somebody else said, it was probably one of the greatest performances in regular season ball considering how highly ranked both teams were.
Choppin, Self did not say that in the post game. He complimented Frank Mason for one of the best defensive performances even though Hield scored 46, which sounded funny to him but if you watched the game you would agree with him. The offensive shooting , driving, terrific acrobat moves by skilled, NBA level talent was on display. Despite great defense the offense was just better. Do not want you to just disagree, rather watch the game again. I bet you will enjoy it even more and probably change your mind.Correction...as I mentioned many times, I support Rutgers, not any individual coach. Jordan can retire or get fired tomorrow and I would support the new coach....100%.
I enjoyed the game because I love watching teams playing an exciting wide open style. But, we will have to disagree, because I do not think it was great defense. Bill Self, the Kansas coach also said in his post game remarks that it was basically a situation where both teams abandoned their offensive sets and just played run and gun offense.
Oklahoma had two players combine for 73 points and shot 14-24 on three point shots. How can that be great defense ? What about denying those two players some three point shots ? Sure, you probably had some individual plays where good defense was played, but, overall, it was not great defense. It was great shooting.

I'm not sure what this means considering that you have been pretty disparaging of our past coaches, Coach Rice in particular. I was under the impression from this quote that you are behind all Rutgers coaches. So therefore, once EJ quits or gets terminated or not renewed, you will disparage him as well? Also, this means that you were supportive of Coach Rice during the fiasco that ended his stay here. I'm not sure how this support translates into how the basketball program is going to be successful someday if it's only about showing support.
Also, doesn't this mean that you are being a little disingenuous in your support of our coaches, past and present?
Sorry, not to make it overly personal, but I remember reading somewhere you made a blanket statement saying none of of previous coaches recruited talented players. Excuse me if I'm wrong but that seemed to be a criticism of their abilities as head coach of our program. A criticism that you won't afford our current head coach because he is still employed.
Way to stay on topic. We are talking about the defense played in last nights game. The OP started the thread to praise the great game. I watched the game and I saw horrible defense, both teams running up and down the court shooting wide open shots.
Anyone think the defense was great last night ??
I bet my man FIG will agree that horrible defense was played in that game last night.
