Anyone hear anything from yesterday. I heard that it did not go as well as we would have liked.

I figured with the scrimmages closed, you two would know how the team performed since you have the closest ties to the team.

Sorry my sources are not that good. I am simply asking a question. Why so angry. What did you hear?

No one wins a scrimmage and I am not sure what RU wanted to get out of it but there were plenty of positives yesterday just maybe not on the scoreboard. None of it matters as they start for real on saturday.

This is when I miss the old LaxPower site. It was great for scrimmages with multiple teams when you could hop between the participant teams season threads and get the hot take from each team's insider fan base.

Question about clubs in the Monmouth and Ocean counties. My son is 12 and has been expressing an interest in a club tryout this year. His sister plays for Mad Dog and he attends open practices for the boys every Monday and the instruction has been excellent from Pete Franz (played at OSU) and others on staff. Some of his friends play for 91 South and he has a cousin playing in college who was a United guy. Anyone have experience or advice on the subject?

Njlc, leading edge, 91, tri state, 2 knights, Patriot are all good choices. Depends on what you want and where you want to drive to.

Thanks gef. With the exception of 91 they are all a hike. My son has replaced football with lax as his favorite sport so it should make for an interesting year.

if you want to stay local and be competitive Mad Dog is probably the choice, 91 south is the old Leading edge south and they are ok but a little less competitive. All the rest are good but may be a hike for you

Best to choose a program that stresses skill development, lacrosse IQ and love for the game over winning. Nobody cares (especially high school and college lax coaches) how many youth lax tournaments your club team has won.

I think the clubs that stress those items are successful in high level tournaments.

What I like to see from my youth kids is the quality of tournaments they attend and how they do at those tournaments.

Thanks for the input. I have heard my son's year (2026) is "loaded" at 91 but who knows. He has done some clinics with a few of their kids at other locations and my son can definitely play with them but i am favoring Mad Dog at the moment. I have watched the coach there for a month now and not only does he have the impressive bio but more importantly i really like the way he coaches. Constant tempo and teaching from start to finish. He told me the other day that he has seen enough of my son at open practices to offer him a roster spot without a tryout but i told him my son will have to try out like anyone else and i want the staff to feel certain in the selection as well.
