Rutgers Lady Knight Football Camp is next Friday, June 2, fro 6-10pm. This will be my 4th time attending. I highly recommend to any women who post here or any men who would like the woman in their life to learn a bit more about football to attend. Minimum age: 21 Maximum age: endless

Some of the drills are more strenuous than others and no one forces you to do anything. You do what you think you can and then move onto the next drill. The $60 fee is a bargain for everything we get to do and is a tax deductible donation to the Susan G Komen fund.

LADY KNIGHT FOOTBALL CAMP

I wrote this elsewhere after last year:

the event is meant to be informative, fun, a work out and recuperation. last night was, without doubt, all 3.

Informative: Coach Ash and his staff explained a bunch of things to the participants, one of which was the ruby style tackling: cheek to cheek. He had a large number of women come up to demonstrate it on some of the dozen of players that were in attendance.

Fun: Photo op with the coach, tricky tray & appetizers in the Audi Club, trying on all of the player equipment in the locker room (new and old jerseys, helmets, cleats and gloves). Coach Ash and his staff are FUN. they are funny, they are driven and they made the night awesome, from their own jokes to having the players do a running man dance off (which Laviano won handily)

Work out: In addition to the rugby tackling positions they made us keep for 2 minutes (squat down, shoulders back, elbows at sides, we went out onto the field (after running out of the tunnel through the smoke) and were put through a bunch of 30 yard warmups (running, high kicking, high stepping, side running) and then we broke out into different drill areas: kicking the ball through the uprights, passing, catching, tackling, running. at each station was a coach and at least one player helping direct the drill. after that we did a relay race where we had to put on a helmet, shoulder pads and run across the field to the next person in your group who then put the equipment on and ran back...4 people on each side. the last event was a riff on the "fastest student" run that they did at the spring game. He broke the women up into different age groups and had us all run a 50 yard dash. the winner of each heat competed in the end for the fastest woman.

Recuperation: we went up to the recruiting lounge for dinner and cocktails. the staff worked the room like hosts at their party, making sure we were all having fun and asking for feedback. We all received a great R beach bag and a wine tumbler as a parting gift.

the event started about 6:30pm and we started home about 11:15pm. The $60 event fee went directly to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer fund.

this was my 3rd time attending and the best. I woke up sore as hell this AM, as did the other 15 women I attended with, it was not a walk in the park at all.

I highly recommend it .
