Forget about LC for a second, what the heck was going on Saturday night? Was it just a lot drunk and pissed off people? The WSU reporter made it sound like there were a series of brawls going on and i have no reason to doubt an eyewitness. Did anyone see any of this chaos? My walk back to New Brunswick was sullen but peaceful.

This stuff happened after the media availability. That means it was more than 45 minutes after the game ended. These weren't normal fans leaving the stadium. The only logical answer, to me, is that these were acquaintances of players who were waiting for those players to finish up and come outside. Unless I'm naive here, I don't believe fans hang around the Hale Center for over 45 minutes unless they're specifically waiting for the players to come out.

All was quiet in Scarlet as we left the stadium. There was some taunting from WSU fans, but I didn't see anything too unusual.

This.

The sad reality of this incident is that everyone involved - EVERYONE - is connected to the team, either directly or peripherally.

And there were a LOT of people involved.

What the F*CK happened that night?! Holy cow.

What's the timing of the announcement from the university, if any?

That's a tough question. Once again, we're caught up in that whole "there's an ongoing investigation, all questions should be directed to law enforcement", etc.

I'm thinking we're not going to hear much from the University until the initial disposition of charges. That would give them pretty much the only thing to comment on, one way or the other.

I know Bobby is saying on the RT that the police report could be released this morning. That's all I got from the one line preview RT allows.

Well first, they will seek "outside counsel" waste more money they could have had for security, then circle the wagons and say some type of BS. Stop, rewind, then hit the play button.

Lemme check on that and get back to you. I'm not sure if it's SOP to release the actual report.

No knowledge but just trying to piece things together, I have a gut feeling some of the names from our prior legal matters might re-surface here.

I'll bet it's all on VIDEO

PS-We stayed to sing the alma mater and left by the Hale Center. Peaceful and quiet. Yellow was mellow.

If no one presses charges, does this just blow away?

just WOW..

How is it possible that a fight would break out outside the stadium when police outnumber fans 2-to-1 in the tailgate parking lots and with all of their ATVs, Polaris buggies, etc.? You figure they must have 1,000 helicopters, tear gas canisters and artillery ready for any situation.

So the question is I guess will the university be proactive and get in front of this in some way. Because I get the close ranks and remain silent approach but with new criminal issues related to a single program every week , it starts to look like you have your head in the sand.

We're BIG now. Maybe it's time for us to act like one. Perhaps the President should do a quickly announced 5 minute presser with no Q&A, just to show that as with our conference mates the President drives the bus and athletics is just one part of the larger enterprise.

You can't do that unless you drive the discussion with some kind of action.

For example, if Barchi were to lead with an announcement that somebody has been fired, or somebody has been hired, then you've got a starting block to go on and make a statement about commitment to excellence, getting to the bottom of things, etc. But to just come out and make a statement about "We don't condone inappropriate off-field behavior" without something actionable to fill the rest of the story... then the media just fills the rest of the story with shit they made up.

Is there any cell phone video? Im sure someone out there has it and is waiting for the right offer to release.

Most parking lot security is pre-game. Post game there are people directing traffic. Otherwise, everyone races home.

... this sounds really ugly.

What a shame. As others have said, crowds leaving from student section and across to NB were subdued. Buses lines were short. Tons of event staff, community service officers (?), and police out to the street. People were even commenting on it in the stairwell. You would think there would be at least one person to keep people out of the Hale center who didn't belong there after the game, and help diffuse anything that came up. Maybe there was someone. Its going to be a long season if these same family/friends are hanging out together waiting for players every game.

Maybe the resources would be better suited around the people in program than the fans.

This is what I heard.... it certainly ruined my night..... well, that and the Giants game.

I heard that the Security Staff at the Hale Center were in a room watching TV while this whole conflict took place. I certainly hope that is not true. If so, more issues at the complex.

If we're talking about an incident with a large group of people I wouldn't be surprised if there is a cell phone video somewhere. When Rutgers decides what to do with Caroo and whoever else is involved, they certainly better operate under the assumption that a video could be released at some point.

We were in the green lot tailgating about 8:30 and the cops came by and told everyone to pack up and leave. There were still a lot of people tailgating. This is the first time they've stopped us tailgating after the game. I wonder if this was because of the stuff happening on the other side of the stadium.

Well as there are no reports or other info yet, then there is no need for it. But if it's as bad as people were saying and involved up to 12 people associated with the team in some way and that all comes out after arraignments, via video, or via well-connected sources and snowballs, then I think a very short presser by Barchi (not Hermann, not Flood) may be called for.

Acknowledge the investigations, acknowledge that there have been recurring problems, emphasize this does not reflect on the behavior of the broader student athlete community and of Rutgers students, emphasize a few recent accomplishments by Rutgers students and faculty. We'll have more when the investigations are compete. So long!

This isn't new at least in the blue lot. Exactly 1 hour after the games, the cops come around and tell everyone to pack up. It happens every game no matter the start time.

Hey, it's the state university of New Jersey, not some polite Ivy League school. Yoose talkin ta me ? Whack !
