Can a 9-4 start be a realistic goal? Could they then win 5 B1G regular season games to be at 14-17,which would show huge improvement?

9-4 is very realistic. The OOC except for SHU, Depaul and Miami is not that good.

They will be double digit dogs vs Seton Hall and Miami

DePaul win/close game would be a huge confidence builder headed into conf play

This is a pretty easy schedule....I don't think there is one team capable of an at large tournament bid in our OOC

Honestly, anything less than 10-3 means for a long big ten season...

10-3 or even 11-2 is realistic if our talent level has truly risen and assuming the coaching is better. A key game will be Drexel, very early on. IIRC, they defeated us a couple of years ago and usually are respectable in their league. I haven't followed BE basketball for the past few years but when we were still in it, DePaul was one of the bottom feeders, as I recall. And that game should be a home game since we played at SJU in the BE-B1G challenge (or whatever it is called) last year and aren't getting a home game from them this season. Fordham has been a perennial bottom feeder in the A-10 and is a winnable game.

The one game that perplexes me is Miami. Why are we even playing them? The concept of the B1G-ACC challenge is to match teams from top to bottom with peers playing one another. Miami finished #3, IIRC, in the ACC last season while RU was last in the B1G. So how could this game be scheduled? We should be playing BC.

Not sure if you're aware from the way you phrased it, but DePaul is indeed an away game for us. I believe this was discussed as unfair on this board when the game was announced.

However, some think DePaul will be terrible, so it is definitely winnable even on the road: bleacherreport.com/articles/2656412-predicting-the-2016-17-big-east-college-basketball-standings/page/2

Beating Stony Brook and Fordham looks like an accomplishment, based on your list.
We beat Fairleigh Dickinson last year, and they got better and made the tourney last year.
Should be a very competitive game at the RAC with FDU.

We have a ABCD schedule
Automatics (4-0)...Molloy, Hartford, Morgan state, Ct ct
Better win (3-1 or 4-0)...Drexel, Niagara, North texas, FDU
Could and probably should (1-2 or 2-1) @DePaul @Stony Brook Fordham (MSG)
Dreaming (0-2) @Miami, @ SHU

I am locking up 7 wins.....8 if we sweep Bs.......9,10,11 depending on Cs........

I agree with the ABCD brackets. I think we will be 10-3 OOC, with losses to SHU, Miami, and one of the C games.

Anything less than 9-4 and fans will start with the "nothing ever changes around here" complaints.

Then expectations need to be lowered. My vocabulary is bad, can't find an adjective horrific enough to describe how bad we were last year. I think we finished the worst team in NJ....rider njit St. Peter's were all better.

9-4 is a good base to shoot for....Seton Hall and Miami are sure losses. Id love to be 10-3 but I think we screw up somewhere probably Fordham but it could be a WTF at the RAC

The most important event in this is not the numbers etc, it is that the university is finally putting its backing into the basketball program. New practice facilities, money to hire a top level coaching staff.

Be patient and give it time, but the program is now finally ready to be on an upswing.

I just want to see our guys playing within the system. If we stay healthy We are a much bigger team this year. If we play tough defense we may be able to stay in some of the B1G games we didn't compete in last year. Lets not forget Laurent played CENTER in more than a few games last year

Monmouth hosting Drexel tomorrow...line is -17

I wonder where they will set sundays line
