We're a 7 seed in the South Region. 1st game in Albany against Southern Cal, with a potential 2nd round matchup against... Seton Hall.

This is one thing I hate about Lunardi. The committee tends to avoid regular season rematches in the first 2 rounds (and he should know that). I'd bet good money that we would be in a different region. The earliest that rematch could occur would be the Sweet 16.

CBS sports also updated brackets. 6 seed in Albany against 11 Texas Tech. Second round against the 3 seed... Seton Hall.

I think they did away with the rule about rematches once the conferences got so big that 10-11 teams could get in. They try to avoid it but maybe not a rule anymore?

I think everyone wants to see a RU/SHU rematch with both teams at full strength, that's all

Stealing these three bullet points from Brendan Quinn's latest article but this will be something we'll have to keep in mind on Selection Sunday. Between these 3 things + the difficulty in placing BYU because of their schedule requirements, we could easily see RU move up or down a seed to accommodate match-up rules:

• You can’t play a fellow conference team in the first round.
• In the second round, you can’t play a team you’ve faced twice.
• If two teams have faced each other three times, they can’t be placed in the same region.

Don't want to play Seton Hall again.

I don't think either team would want a rematch quite honestly. SHU would have everything to lose if that happened.... sweep and eliminated from NCAAs in same season??

That would be harshly unfair for anyone to digest. RU winning a rematch on a neutral floor and having it happen in the NCAAs erases every other mention about their program for the next decade or more.

I am not sure we are quite that close to worry about seeding or anything, 12 more games to improve and get better is what's most important for RU.
