Laviano is terrible.

If Laviano plays the entire season we will be lucky to won 4 games and Flood would have to be fired. He has officially proven that he knows jack shit about QBs.

Laviano is not terrible. He's not ready. He has no sense of urgency. He throws the ball up for grabs.

What the next level below Terrible: that's Laviano!

Note to Flood: Try something else, moron.

Hes just not the best we have. Two scores his turnovers led to. No spark- short passes.

A b10 backup that flood doesnt or worse wont see it is a huge problem. He ruined bcs chance a few yrs ago - hope he doesnt wait till multiple losses until hes forced to make a change and we get new qb w demoralized team

He's terrible... I had a catch with an 8th grader in the parking lot with more arm strength

Laviano is a game manager, thought he played decent today. Rettig should have saw the field after the fumble.

Jesus, at least RU doesnt have a shortage of enabling fans are.

I thought Laviano played ok. He did compete 24/29 passes. He just reminds me of Hackenberg at penn state and I don't think that's the direction we go in.

Did not get to watch the whole game - just saw large portion of 4th Qtr - But it really gave me a jolt tho hear the announcers comment a few times:
"pass from Laviano... oh-oh ... off his back foot again..."
- - my immediate gut reaction = aw crap it is so obvious that the broadcasters are calling it out on national television ... and have already noticed & called it out a few time already - -
and sure enough the pass lacked 'zip' and was short.
I always figure that a coach should be entitled to factor in the 'intangibles' that they see when making a critical player choice ... but it seems like something is blinding Flood & staff to the genuine 'tangible' factors that appear to be limiting Laviano.
It is like Laviano operates at 80% - yes, operates mostly safely (actually mostly in a rather utilitarian manner and basically took the obvious things that they gave him) - and it seems 'flat' and clearly Laviano is not going to scare anyone - yes, they will need to be sharp against him - but his repertoire is a bit limited and there are few ways in which he will be able to 'burn' another team.

Can Rettig put together truly stellar performances? it remains to be seen.
But it starts to look like if Rutgers wants to put a genuine 'spectacular' ... 'dazzling'.."A+" offense on the field - it is just not going to be with Laviano at QB.

He didn't play terrible and he wasn't great. He clearly made a few key mistakes like the fumble that led to the WSU touchdown. To put this loss on his shoulders alone is ridiculous.

He was hurt and we saw Rettig warming up. I was trying to find out if Caroo was on work release from being arrested too...didn't get thrown to by order of the conservative playcalling. He was NOT double-teamed all day. Flood, don't start this affection with a sub par QB that we suffered with in the past. We all know Rettig is twice Dodd. Get him in there.

No, it's mostly on Flood. This was his most poorly coached game since the VA Tech bowl game. This rivals the Kent St debacle in my mind. He just has no feel for a QB's handle of the game.

You are correct - on his shoulders alone = not right at all.
The penalties, the porous defense were the paramount culprits.
But there are at least two aspects to this -
Should Laviano be viewed as having 'lost' the game ? - NO
Should Laviano be viewed as having taken advantage of the opportunities to shred WSU & take control of the game ? nope ...

Clearly an example where passing stats can be misleading. Production in the first half was bad and he does throw off his back foot alot. I thought the OL did a lousy job of pocket protection which cause the need for more rollouts. These plays were pretty effective. If we are being asked to be patient while another QB learns the position that is a lot to ask when its not clear he is the best long term answer at the position. I agree the loss was not on him but he contributed for sure.

- it just does not all make sense - all on Flood? well McDaniels (& Fridge) is in there somewhere - but it is hard to think that McDaniels (with some Fridge input) puts together a game plan and shows it to Flood ..
and then Flood say " well that is nice ... but could you tone it down a bit ? give me something a but less imaginative ... a bit less intense?"
