Spike the ball on 4th down
Slide 2 yards short of a 1st down, instead of diving for the 1st down (perhaps he didn't want to stop the clock)
Repeatedly get delay of game penalties, including coming out of a timeout
Of course, throw in to double coverage with Caroo, hoping he'll bail you out once again

Is Flood just begging to be fired? Can't he see Retig can't be worse? What does Laviano have on him?
Of course Laviano showed he's a team leader, when SUPPOSEDLY in a fight for starting QB, he gets caught with a fake ID when trying to enter a bar.
I truly feel sorry for Flood, because he's so far in over his head.
Supporting Flood at this point is worse than saying you'd vote for Obama again!

Agreed. What's worse is later in the game on a 1st down run, he took a big hit. Gotta have awareness of the game & the field, which I'm convinced no one on the team or staff does! Fake punt on 4th & 4 on your own 30?! :flush:

Not sure what that means either, but no biggie. PS- I have a nephew who is a Soph QB at Mentor HS in Ohio. He is 6'4, 200, and has 25 TDs this season. They lost to St Edwards tonight(#1 in the Midwest), he is on the radar of some programs, and will be on many more soon. His nickname...."The Lithuananian Laser' !!

The risk reward on the fake punt was nonexistent on reward. You get a first on the 34 or you give them an almost automatic 3 pts to go up by three scores. Then to boot Flood's explanation made it possibly one of the biggest blunders I have ever seen. I sat in the stands dumb founded by that one. He took a two score game and literally ended the game with one stupid decision.

What was his explanation?

He said possessions were getting short in the game and he didn't want to put his defense back out on the field. This after the defense actually had a pick and on the previous possession would have gotten off the field if not for a defensive holding penalty on third down. Then we watched the defense hold them to a field goal. I'm not sure what game coach Flood was watching.

It was just an incredible lack of awareness and football sense by Laviano. He's been playing long enough to understand that you can't slide short of the 1st down line. It's as bad as Nova throwing the ball once he was past the line of scrimmage.
