So Flood has made his choice, and considering a lot of the signals along the way, none of us should be terribly surprised.

I suggest we not let the QB issue divide the fan base and that we all get behind Chris and support him and the rest of the team. Presumably Flood and McDaniels and Fridgeon know a thing or two about choosing a QB and you have to think that they made an educated decision that gives the team the best chance at winning. I know Bobby and Duggan and Milewski think Rettig should be the guy, but can anyone honestly say that one really stood out more than the other? By all accounts Laviano had the better Spring, while the scrimmages and reports out of camp said that they were more or less neck and neck. Perhaps Laviano had the locker room in his corner, which is no small thing either.

They both played well on Saturday...which is great!...and neither of them 'lost the job', which means that we have two guys that look like they can play and be successful at this level. The past few years, the drop-off from Nova to the back-up was much greater than what we have today, which means that if Laviano struggles or gets overwhelmed, we have a credible threat on the bench that can come in and be successful.

Lastly...we should give Laviano some leeway here. Not every pass will be a touchdown, some may even be intercepted...or even worse, under thrown touchdown passes...but let's not get on him from Day One.

Anyway...I'm excited that the QB position finally seems to have some depth and I'm excited to see how the offense looks next weekend when we presumably get less vanilla.
