Looks like RU is having some kind of interactive light show before the game on Saturday. They want everyone to download the Scarlet Knights Light Show app and enter where you are sitting. I'm guessing the app is sending some light effect directly to your phone for the show.

ha. I'm in the 100 level on Saturday...already downloaded the app, input my seat info. Ready!

I think the only message RU needs to get out to its fans is to wear red to the game

And also to arrive earlier than expected, since it's a sellout and if everyone shows up between 3:30-4, the lines to get in will be long and slow

as usual, fans have to do the marketing dept.'s job. Who knows about this? I've had tix for months now. Gonna be weak a$$ again IF they are counting on fans to participate AND don't get the word out.

Thanks again Mrs. Screw for sharing what you hear.

Is this legit?

I scanned the QR code Mrs Screw posted, and there is nothing on the page for the app that indicates it is officially sanctioned by Rutgers. (I did not download the app to my phone.)

There is nothing on the ScarletKnights website, although there is a splash page urging fans to wear Scarlet to Saturday's game. I also received 2 emails from Rutgers regarding Saturday's game, and neither email mentioned this light show. And there was nothing mentioned at yesterday's game.

I am wondering if this is a scam to get people to download an app to their phones.

They were handing these sheets out on the way out of the RAC yesterday

Still don't know how to do it. Massive marketing/promoting failure... like the 150th. SMH.

Wait, if I disconnect my home rotary phone and bring it and I get a call in the meantime, will they get a "busy" signal? Please let me know because I've never pulled the phone out of the wall before.
That is a classic response .

Interesting. They weren't handing them out at the door I used.

Who was handing them out? Security? Cheer team? Or some random scammers?

It was by the display of the throwback jersey in the hallway. Looked like official staff to me, but yes the marketing department needs to be better about these kinds of things.

Sounds like a scam.

When they have handouts (like posters, magnets, etc) at the end of the games, they have the cheer/dance teams at every exit. And if they had the flyers to hand out at the end of the game, there would have been announcements during the game.

Handing out flyers sounds like too much effort for your run-of-the-mill internet scammer. Maybe it's some Seton Hall students trying to get Rutgers fans to run a light show that will say something like "Go Pirates".

No matter what, this will be an epic fail as usual.

And yes, how do we get everyone to wear red. Did anyone see the guy in the new luxury seats wearing a blue jacket. I hope he doesn't wear that Saturday.

If that is the extent of their promoting this, along with a handful of flyers randomly handed to people leaving Wednesday's game, they will end up with fewer than 1 out of 10 fans participating.

I would hope they also hand out these flyers to people on the way in on Saturday but that's probably expecting too much from our marketing team.

Agreed and the alternate traffic pattern will likely be in place too. I am pretty sure it was last night.

Wtf is wrong with these folks and their lame ass efforts at such things like this and black outs, and other stuff. It's embarrassing how last minute and crappy they get the word out on stuff.

Short of handing out lighted wristbands like you're going into a Coldplay concert this is just fated to the usual micky mouse execution.

Freakin put a bar in the RAC and stop the insanity of the gimmicks.

I was in NOLA at the Superdome for the Saints-Niners game last Sunday. They had a similar app (announced on the scoreboard). It was awesome. Tremendous festive environment and the loudest place I have ever been.

If you don’t know how to download an app to your phone this probably won’t impress you anyway

if you can figure out how to adjust the radio antenna on your house to get a twitter signal, there’s a video on the RU athletics page that literally shows you what to literally click and type

There's There's another example from the Purdue Game posted on the Football Forum. Not sure how to pull it over.

It does look good but my concern ..obviously is Rutgers ability to pull it off.
Nobody Freakin knoas.

@MrsScrew maybe you can get word back thru your connections that they need to push thus thing harder! Email blasts to Rutgers ticket holders, students, hand outs at the tailgate....

Per Marketing:

We’ve emailed everyone with a ticket to the game, plus social today, tomorrow & Saturday, plus flyers on seats Saturday

Old people won’t know how to download the app, and millennials won’t be able to hold the phones in their hands without trying to take a picture! :Laughing:Laughing:Laughing

I'm a STH and also bought single-game tickets... No e-mail

I have season tickets. I've received multiple emails about the game Saturday. None of them mention the light show.

There is a "Wear Scarlet to the Seton Hall game " splash page on ScarletKnights.com and there is no mention of the light show. I just checked the Rutgers Men's Basketball Facebook page and I can't find a mention of the light show.

I get that the marketing team is probably swamped with stuff related to Schiano's return. But if they didn't have the resources to do this right, then they shouldn't have done it at all.

At this point, they have a half assed effort, and I don't know how they fix it with one day to go. I guess they can do another email blast today, and include this in a Game Day email blast early tomorrow morning. They'll also have to update the webpages. If they're lucky, maybe they'll get 40% participation.
