Little Ricky's Gophers up 4 on Terps with under 6 to go

one thing to note is that even how bad they have been this year with all the losing...6-18....students and fans show up. So sad what our ADs allowed happen to our beloved basketball program..they really did shit on it totally and showed no remorse

Boy did Uncle Bob really lay a big fat steaming heaping turd on our basketball program. [poop]You can see even how far we are behind 7-18 Minnesota. The thing is people are finally waking up to it but I have been saying this for 15 years now

King was actually crying thanking the fans who always came out to support the team. Meanwhile people where applauding ej atvthe cc meeting because his team hasnt given up and its a true testament to ej.

Minnesota is 7-18, but has been competitive in pretty much every B1G game. We've been competitive in, what, 3 or 4 at most? They're going to smoke us.

It isn't really a revelation. BM all but said he took funding away from hoops (and other sports) in order to build football in hopes of making profitable enough to then build basketball. You can say it worked given we are in the B1G. I know it was all about TV's, but certainly, our consistent bowl record and graduating players made entrance A LOT more palatable.

IF Minnesota had not made NCAA since 1991 I wonder how loyal they would be?

you got that right...Pitino is an example of doing a great job with the losing. His teams have lost like 8 conference games by under 8. Only at RU is losing games by 16-30 points on average is not giving up...you cant make that up

Watching Michigan State, they have monsters. Most of their players look like they have spend mega time in weight room.

What happened to no moral victories?

it was reckless, it didn't have to be done that way. Bob was contract Bob and extension Bob, he pissed more money away on hoops actually trying to save it. I get what he did and the end result but he bludgeoned the program and he had no plan to fix it. Also he paid CVS as much as GS all the while skimping on the mens side. People say McCormick threw him under the bus but the fact was, Bob was irresponsible and reckless with spending.

I heard EJ compared Nigel Johnson to Valentine, you cant make that kind of stuff up...that's the kind of Kool Aid at the court club meetings

No biggest laugh was when poor Goode had to guard Valentine. Had to give away 40 pounds. Again where is our weight training? And Goode is only a frosh, Foreman needs to get bigger.

is beating Maryland a moral victory

Did Eddie not beat Wisconsin last year? Eddie beat Wisconsin he must be a great coach because he lost a handful of games close last year! Minny deserves credit tonight. But that win shouldn't all of a sudden give weight to 8 "close losses".

1 wins Minnesota should not be used as just another avenue to bash this injured Rutgers team. That's my only point. Good win for them.

Goode IMO is not a B1G player. Just like you have to evaluate whether a college kid can play in the NBA you have to evaluate whether a high school kid can make it in the B1G

oh too easy..lets start by saying they haven't won since. If Minnesota hasn't won a game in league until next year at this time then I will say to you..hey good point you were right....RU has lost 28 straight conference games and at least half of them by more than 20. They are 0-34 vs top 250....oh I don't seem to recall Minny having those numbers. Minnesota has played the majority of their losses close...no such things as moral victories but it means they are close to something..meanwhile you and the few Eddie supporters left are clinging to some notion that all of a sudden a team that cant beat anyone in the top 250 is going to win 8 league games next year. You and the Eddie supporters throwing parades for games within 20, its a joke

I agree, I would have done it differently, and the contracts thing is on point. Even so, you can't argue with the result. We are in the B1G, and having a successful football program played a part in that.

Again, not throwing a parade. A team that wins 1 game won't win 8 games next year. I'm not pointing to Rutgers winning 8 games in fact I've said 5 or 6. I'm just saying this is not a fair avenue to attack Rutgers. Christ when penn state was up at halftime the other day you were just waiting so say "penn St beat Iowa yada yada yada Rutgers sucks".

We get it. But not every one off game by other bottom feeders is ammo to bash this inured Rutgers team. And certainly that one off win doesn't make the rest of their close losses better than Rutgers close losses - even if they have more. I mean cmon before tonight Rutgers blew a chance to win on the foul line and lost in 3OT with two players over 6'4". Surely that would have been a better loss than any Minny had and could be spun as substantial evidence of how Eddie is doing a much better job this year than Pitino... These comparisons do no good and hold no weight one way or the other.

um no because Ilinois only played one player over 6ft7...and hello um get your facts straight, RU played Foreman and Lewis and they aren't under 6ft4 and neither is Laurent. Illinois had has many players out as RU and also had injured players playing so that's one time you cant bring the magic wand of injuries to excuse everything out.

my whole point is that some think RU exists in a bubble and that there aren't teams in their vicinity trying to get better as well. RU is so far behind even the bottom feeders at this point. Eddie isn't going to pull us out of the abyss lets stop with the charade

Minnesota is the other bottom feeder and they have one win. Wow they are so far ahead! Rutgers has played the entire season with 7 or 8 scholarship players and without 3 of their only 5 interior players. Surely you can understand this one game is not an example of Rutgers being so far behind.

This thread should be titled Minnnestoa/Rutgers comparison thread. That's what you were going for.

Though there is no distinct advantage BASED ON THIS YEAR one way or the other. Unless you want to say Minny has regressed with out substantial injuries while Rutgers has regressed with substantial injuries.

we are 285, they are 169...285 is incrediblybad.

That would make us the worst Ivy League school, worst Summit League team, worst MAC team, worst CAA team,...i could go on further

Well Hobbs did say were were the worst B1G in facilities, worst in the Big East in facilities and the lower 3rd of the MAAC in facilities.

well they are going to play twice so that should settle that but beyond that I have seen both teams play and its not close. Minny also has a very good class coming in next year not 3 zero star players but I digress. Roster and player management is part of the game as is injuries. Im tired of arguing with you because you believe everything is excuse with injuries
