LOL.. Merhengher has to pay RU 30K on way out

Instead of ridiculing Mehringer on the situation, let's think about it for a second. Seems to me that this indicates that Mehringer left of his own accord and was not ushered out by Ash.

Does it really matter how or why he left? Ridicule is warranted regardless for the job he did last year. Not that he deserves it necessarily, but just like Flood, he was given an opportunity he was woefully unprepared, but could not turn down. But we make fun of Flood incessantly, so there's no reason we shouldn't do the same with DM.

there were no tears shed on the offense players side of room when he left.

He owes us much more given the season tix that won' t get sold because of his crappy offense last year.

I was simply pointing out that the data don't support an argument that Ash moved him out. I had said on a different thread that it may have been mutual or a bit of a shove. Now that doesn't seem to be the case.

My guess is that Mehringer worked really hard at the job and it just didn't go well for any of a variety of reasons. Ridiculing people, especially those who haven't done anything to deserve it, isn't how I want to spend my life. I'm sure Mehringer wished things had gone better for the O last year, and he seems like an honorable and hard-working young man. I wish him the best.

In fairness to the poster above; what would are take on him leaving have been if we had lit it up on offense last year.

If by "the poster above," you are referring to RUSK97, if Mehringer had been wildly successful and left to take, say, an OC at Texas, we'd be upset, but I think would acknowledge that people avail themselves of better opportunities. But I don't see your point in asking. My issue with RUSK97 is that he seems to delight in ridiculing others. My point is that that isn't much of a way to live one's life.

Is this really news to any of you? Do you folks follow college football at all? This is a standard practice.

That's even more of a concern.

I must say I've not spent that much time ridiculing him at all. In fact, in another thread, I've even suggested he will be a solid OC one day with proper tutelage. That said, what I meant by my post is that all the ridicule he receives, while not necessarily deserving, is perfectly acceptable based on zero improvement over a season. I didn't expect him to walk on water given the relative lack of talent, but the fact that the offense showed nothing as the season went on speaks of ineptitude.
