Anyone want to tell me why this guy is such a fan favorite here. He seems only like a slightly above mediocre coach. He wins a little more than half his conference games now, how would he do in the Big Ten?

468-225 is slightly above mediocre? 68-31 the last three years. Has succeeded in three different places. 2 NCAAs, 3 NITs. Yeah, that's mediocre.

The A10 is a very good conference and his teams always over perform. Very consistent. That is all RU can hope for.

Best finish in the A-10 was third. 6th this year, 5th last year. Doesn't seem like the slam dunk people are making him out to be.

Lonergan is hands-down the best of the coaches that have been mentioned and are realistic. However, I doubt that we can get him.
The better the won/loss record the more likely the head coach options don't choose Rutgers.

I still think it's Lonergan's job if he wants it. I mean - come on - the guy is making $500-$600k at GW and he'd be in line for a $1m raise (minimally).

Jim - follow the money and take the damn job.........as Hobbs likes you big time......

I agree that his reputation seems a little stronger than the actual results but certainly seems like a top candidate to me based on other names speculated. Also seems more realistic if his current salary is accurate.
