I usually stay quiet during these times on the message boards, because I think it's just not worth getting into the back and forth with the two hard lines that people draw in the sand on every issue.
But I will say for all the disdain that is being spewed on here for NJ.com (and with good reason in my opinion), you do realize that many of you are just as bad, right?
I mean many are screaming in twenty posts a day how much discipline the team lacks, how we have a bunch of criminals how Flood has lost control of the team. Here is what we actually know.
-Flood emailed a professor about a players grade. Everything else hearsay at this point. Could be bad or could be a concerned coach.
-One player is charged with braking into a house and committing a serious crime. I have no idea if he is guilty or not and neither do any of you. The fact that he was dismissed from the team and not suspended (which if I was the coach I would always suspend pending investigation because...innocent until proven guilty you know?) leads me to believe Flood knows more than I do here.
-Multiple players were charged with getting into some kind of fight at the end of a college night. Again, the fact that they were dismissed and not suspended would lead me to believe that it was more serious than just a drunk bar fight, but we don't know what really happened.
-Our captain got into some altercation after the game and is charged with simple assault.
That's is it I believe. So on a best case scenario we have a coach who cares about his player, a bunch of guys who were fighting over god knows what (could they have even been attacked?), a kid who was defending a family member, and a bad apple who was dismissed from the team or maybe...just maybe...found innocent of what he's accused of. And on a worst case scenario a coach who tried to harass a professor to change a grade, a bunch of players who break the law with varying levels of crimes and a captain/leader who did something pretty bad after the game to a female.
But the rub is this...we don't know! Now I know some of you know everything as you love to tell us with your endless "hey I know what happened posts." But aside from you guys (and if you do really know good for you but what good comes of saying it on a message board when you know the result is just gonna be people guessing and asking you to share), we don't know if it's the good scenario (which to me isn't a big deal on a grand scale) or the bad scenario (which would mean a change should be made) or somewhere in between (obviously most likely).
So why do so many on here just go to the scenario that they want to believe. You don't like Flood as the coach, everything is worst case and vice versa. Constantly bickering on this board (where we know NJ.com comes for info...AND...recruits actively read) does nothing but hurt the program and Flood (our current coach) in the future.
I guess my point is this...if you are as unhappy as I am with nj.com and believe they are printing half truths to generate clicks then why are you posting what should be done based on limited information. Shouldn't we all just be rooting for the team until more facts come out? We are suppose to the diehards...the ones who support the program through the thick and thin.
End rant.
