I mean just pass the stickin 101 class. Theater appreciation? Dance appreciation? Whatever. Just pass the class. Academic support, why didn't you help him, within normal means, to pass a MGSA 101 class?

He got a DUI and also got arrested for what, assault or something? The kid is not bright.

Maybe that was the culture...if you fail a class, coach will make a few calls and take care of it. I find it hard to believe that Flood woke up one day and decided that this was how he was going to do business.

Was it really theater appreciation? That class was easy, but very easy to fail. All you had to do was go see a play, but I remember the tests being pretty short so if you missed the play and didn't know some of the questions you're pretty much screwed.

is it really shocking that academic standards are extremely low for college athletes?

Actually we probably have only seen the tip of the iceberg on this. Nadir probably has a pretty good case against Rutgers and NJ.com for an employee leaking his F grade and it being published.
There were several privacy laws broken.

The communication between Flood and a professor being investigated was leaked, not his grade.

It being Barnwell was deduced from the evidence of him not qualifying.

I don't think Nadir Barnwell has a very good case.

Also he has a criminal case to worry about....

Jay ..... The ledger printed that he received an F in the class

Lots of kids fail classes for lots of reasons.

Some of those kids try to get extra credit, beg for grades and so on. I wonder how many helicopter moms call profs for their kids.

Why go out of your way to embarrass a Rutgers athlete any further? He made mistakes, he will pay for those mistakes.

All that said, I never thought Flood was a good coach... for lots of reasons. This kid passing a class would have done nothing since he was allegedly involved in other nefarious BS. The D would still be missing him.

If this means getting a new head coach, I'd like ot thank this kid for failing that class and revealing how stupidly Flood handled the situation.

Barnwell is a method actor. His real goal is to play Stanley Kowalski: STELLA....STELLA!!!
Shame the teacher didn't get his act.

MANY schools have soft majors far worse than any we have.

I taught at UF and I can tell you "recreational supervision"(under several different names" was VERY soft...that said 99% of the football players had REAL majors and saw attending UF as an HONOR...as do 99,9 % of out current players

I saw way more soft majors on the swim team LOL

It really wasn't just that one class....as it was all the classes from the previous semester that put Nadir in a failing situation (i.e. it wasn't just a poor grade in that Spring Class that was his downfall).

Real question should be why did he fail/have poor grades in most of his classes during the previous semesters?

No not at Rutgers. All of them are road scholars Duh.

Really? The irony of screwing up Rhodes scholars in this post is almost too much to bear.

THIS + 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

75% of other schools he probably passes, either because of the curriculum he takes or the schools support of Athletics. It's nice to see RU just doesn't "pass" these kids for playing football.

That being said, I failed a class before simply because I hated it and missed a final. Stupid mistake but it happens.

I'm sure Barnwell could have and would have passed the class if it was important to him.
I'm sure when he realized he put no effort into the class he panicked and tried to salvage the grade...to late.
Whatever he was doing and whomever he was hanging with was more important AT THE TIME than football or that class.
So he lives with a regret the rest of his life

We pretty much know what he was doing. He should have gone to class instead.

neither was the person who named him. How can you name your kid after a word that means"the Lowest"? As in, Nadir is at the nadir of academic achievement. And Nadir's nadir has brought RU fans' spirit to a nadir.

So u know what he was doing? What I don't understand is we always talk about FAMILY and Rutgers men but as soon as some gets in trouble we destroy them. Come on people we are dealing with kids think back when u were their age, we all did bonehead thing. Kiss learn from their mistakes move on and become productive adults. I am hoping that all these young men get their degrees and become role models for the next generation.

He might have a case against Rutgers. It would depend if the university or a university employee released his name connected to the grade or if the medial just pieced it together. Also he would have no case against NJ.com because they are not covered under the student privacy act.

Wait, all he had to do was pass the class to be eligible? Are we sure? It was only a credit thing and it wasn't because his GPA was low and he needed to raise it before the season? That's unbelievable.
