In comes arguably the best overall program in the country. We’ve come up just short so many times against these guys but it’s another huge opportunity. Faceoffs and goalie play will be huge as always, and we will most certainly need to finish the opportunities we get. Maryland is like a professional program. They aren’t going to beat themselves ever.

Terps are to Rutgers Men’s lacrosse what West Virginia was to Rutgers football during GS 1.0.

But our guys are rounding into form, so can this be the year?…

I am soo thirsty for a win against Maryland. If it were to happen I would empathically rationalize away my concerns from earlier in the season.

This Maryland team is a little different than previous years. They are defense driven, similar to us. Points will be at a premium. We will not get a lot of opportunities in settled situations and we will have to convert when we do. MDs offense is very intentional, they like to take it deep into the shot clock and limit possessions.

For us to have a shot we will have push transition and early offense with our dmids. It’s a risk because if we don’t convert it creates more possessions for Maryland but I don’t see any way we win a war of attrition. We will need to get to double digits to have a shot. If we can get to 12+ we have a good chance of winning.

One thing I forgot is that the #3 and #4 host #5 and #6 in the opening round of the conference tourney. Right now JHU and PSU are both 0-2. We're tied with Maryland at 1-1. Win 2 out of 3 or at least 1 out of 3 and good chance we're hosting one of the opening tourney games.

That JHU win could be huge to allow us to finish 3 or 4.

Cool and rain Sat…, I swear this program has the worst luck when it comes to weather at home games the last few years.
...as of now looks like rain will stop by mid afternoon. Given the 5:00pm start this should be a good crowd... Maryland .F/O for the year is hovering around 52%... with former Hunterdon Central player Sean Creter at 32 /77...41%.....

Bad matchup for us. We struggle scoring goals at 9.8/game (worst in B1G), and MD has a very stingy defense at 7.6/game (best in B1G).

The good news is that MD is not a juggernaut on offense (4th in B1G at 11.6/game), while Rutgers is no slouch on defense (3rd in B1G at 8.8/game).

We also have a slight edge in FOs, with Matthew Paolatto of Rutgers at 61.2%, while MD's main guy is at 57.7%. We need Paolatto to win 60% in order to give us more possessions.

All in all, a really difficult game that we will need to win 9-8.

Data aside, based on the eye test, OSU’s D is better. They have more athletes in the middle of the field than Maryland. Maryland is very good though.

I’m not saying we win but I will be very shocked if we don’t play well. Had a great week of practice and everyone is confident.

At least lacrosse has an all time winning record against PSU, Michigan and OSU. Probably the only program at RU that can say that.

i hope to see Rutgers beat Maryland in lacrosse or get a win over Penn State/Ohio State in football in a Big Ten game before taking my last breath. Time’s a wasting.
I have seen a W at PSU for football. A long, long time ago.

There’s also a fantastic women’s game on ESPNU.

#1 BC at #2 UNC

Heels up 12-11 with 15 seconds left in the game. BC with emo chance.

Torn, since I’d like JHU to win so our win looks better. But think at this point it’s whatever gets us the 3rd or 4th seed in the conf tourney and hosting the game. JHU losing would put them at 0-3 in conference and that helps us.
