Meadowlands Question

I am staying at the Heldrich in New Brunswick the entire time I will be out your way(Thursday-Monday). How long does it take and what is the best way to get to The Meadowlands from there on a Thursday evening for a NFL game? Are there any good spots to eat and/or to get drinks close(walking distance) to the stadium if go early?
