OK...did some digging into James Madison offense in 2014 and Houston in 2015. I know that he wasn't the OC at Houston, but considering the limited data about him and being a Tom Herman guy, hopefully his year at Houston is representative.
James Madison 2014:
Points per Game: 44.25
Rushing Yards Per Game: 273.8
Passing Yards Per Game: 255.0
Time of Possession: 26:17
593 rushing attempts, 356 passing attempts (about 60% rushing, 40% passing)
188 rushes by the QBs (inc. 18 sacks...so 170 QB rushes)
7 receivers with 15 or more catches
Houston 2015:
Points per Game: 40.6
Rushing Yards Per Game: 239.5
Passing Yards Per Game: 247.4
Time of Possession: 31:05
616 rushing attempts, 386 passing attempts (about 65% rushing, 35% passing)
205 rushes by the QBs (inc. 26 sacks...so 179 QB rushes)..QB leading rusher by yards, 4 behind by attempts
4 receivers with 15 or more catches
My Conclusion: The offenses will put up a ton of points, but we better get a QB that can run.
