Two wrestlers from the same High School. Almost equal in accomplishments but such a disparity in careers so far. I know Glasgow was hurt, but I think there was a huge mental block. A lot of people were using the injury as why he was not competing well. At first I was on that bandwagon, but then I saw him hit some high crotches flawlessly and that made me think that maybe it's more than just that. I really believe he is either burnt or he doesn't want to wrestle anymore. Kind of feel like we have another Campolattano in the making. I hope that's not the case, because the coaches put a lot into this kid

Glasgow has the desire. He is not another Camp.

I don’t think you and some others understand how difficult wrestling up a weight is.

Lewis wrestled at 160 in HS. He’s a natural 165. Glasgow wrestled at 152 in HS. He’s a natural 157. He was always gonna struggle at 165 this year, but had he not been injured, he probably could’ve been a national qualifier which is very impressive. Now, at 157, he should have no problem qualifying. If he takes a RS year, some in the know think he has potential to be a 3-time All-American at 157. Would that be disappointing?

first off, we really don't know how serious his knee is. they keep telling us all is well, and he can wrestle.....i watched his state tourney match senior year. i,m pretty sure he wrestled griffin from bc. anyway he was quick as a cat, and i,m thinking to myself we have ourselves a possible future multi aa....this season, don't forget he had to wrestle 65. should be a 57. most of those kids he wrestled look much bigger then him. he held his own in most of those matches....someone mentioned a red shirt would benefit him next year. i agree with that. get that knee stronger.,and come back with a vengeance the following year

I think we have a knowledgeable enough wrestling community to tell whether a guy has it or not, regardless of weight class or any other obstacle. We just all want to see that fire that is so important in this sport. Instead, we have seen the opposite in many instances with him - and since we are the people who want him to win more than any other group of people - we care about it

I don't understand these comments. He was a freshman that got hurt, had surgery, and couldn't handle wrestling up a weight during the post-surgery recovery. Moreover, he was coming off other injuries since HS that had him barely wrestling for a year or more before enrolling here. Of course he's gonna be lethargic and look helpless or disinterested at times. I give him an incomplete and can't judge him yet. More than anything, I just hope he can stay healthy so he can get back to form and we can judge next season.

Couldn’t have said it better myself... I was one of the most high on Glasgow/Lewis coming out of HS.. knew at least one of them, hopefully both would be special in college... wish both coulda came to RU and pushed each other..

Glasgow gets an “incomplete” this year for being hurt/wrestling up. But my expectations have certainly been simmered... people are quick to forget Glasgow was HEALTHY and had a chance to win the 157 weight class and push JVB up to 165...so I would slow down on the future AA talk if healthy/wrestling his weight until Glasgow gets it done on the mat...

True freshman adjusting to College
Wrestles in formidable BIG TEN
Up a weight class from natural weight
Surgery
Got medically cleared to wrestle

Yeah, he gets a pass this season from ME before I start passing any judgment. In fact, I think he was a warrior at times and in some of these matches, he showed his potential. It’s a grind, physically and mentally in wrestling and academically.

Everyone has obstacles at different times and peaks at different times. Let his stoRy unfold.

Go RU!

Not true at all. Lewis was always considered the more coveted recruit. He was considered the more multiple AA/Natty prospect.

Completely different circumstances.
Lewis: has been in a college wrestling room for two years and wrestled on the open circuit for a year before starting. Plus had a year to adjust to college life under his belt. He's wrestling at his natural weight and not injured. Also the ACC is not the B1G. Lot less wear and tear.

Glasgow: 1st year in a college wrestling room. Hadn't wrestled competitively for a year. Thrust into starters role without the benefit of a year to adjust to college life and wrestling room. Then compound the differences by wrestling up a weight class from his normal weight and add in the injury. That's a recipe for disaster in the B1G.

Conclusion: You just gave an example of comparing apples to oranges.

I believe, Lewis was #17 class recruit and Glasgow was #26
Trust me on this one, have friends from Bound Brook and one had a son on his team. Mekhi was the one everyone was coming to see. The buzz around him was, just as it's transpiring now. Multiple time AA with a good shot at a Natty. Glasgow has always been injury prone. The talk was if he could remain healthy multiple AA's was not out of the question. Recruiting wise Mekhi was the more coveted recruit by colleges.

Lewis was always the most talented one coming up. Notwithstanding Glasgow has the potential to get there maybe not at Lewis level yet? Sometimes you need everything to work out flawlessly without injuries along wrestling on the circuit. As a matter of fact both Lewis and Glasgow almost ended up at the same college. They are close obviously wrestling together over the years.A couple of their coaches did not think Rutgers was the right fit for Glasgow. The kid decided to stay home as several us have mixed reservations based on his performance. He is always going to be compared to Lewis but we should not.I just hope we reserve judgement and not run the kid off yet.If that happens we just move onto the next recruit as we always do.Its all about performance and what you have done for me lately.

If he makes it back to form, we will all jump on his bandwagon again.I can't imagine the pressure Glasgow and his family is feeling with a disastrous season.I have seen many wrestlers at his level get back overcoming injuries or the opposite.Let's hope and pray he comes back as an multi AA which would be a success.

None of us have a crystal ball, so it is easy to write on things seeing the results from Lewis and world accomplishments.

Let's try to focus on two possible NCAA champs with NS & AA today. That's more important now then we can deal with the what if's and nots.

I am super excited to see both guys here front and center in Pittsburgh.Broke the bank for these great seats.

I never jumped off the Glasgow bandwagon. My position from the start was he wrestled simply do to recruiting ineptness as we had no one else at 165. That he should have redshirted just like Lewis to 1st get accustomed to a college wrestling room and college life. Second just to get accustomed back to wrestling competitively as he hadn't done that in a year. By wrestling this year up a weight class the odds were stacked against him even before the injury. Then after the injury to continue in the B1G meat grinder, just became a ludicrous decision and it reflected in his performance.

Well said Koleszar let's hope for the best.It would please me wholeheartedly if Glasgow proves RUCrackers or many of our doubts wrong.

Not this topic again!!! Here's my take. From the limited, healthy time I saw SG, he looked good. After he got hurt, he was a much different wrestler. To the resident experts who feel he may be a miss, I have a question. How many of you have wrestled in college after a year of no competition, PLUS wrestled as a true freshman, PLUS started in the B1G, PLUS wrestled up a weight, PLUS had their knee worked on and came back in two weeks to wrestle up a weight class, as a true freshman, and against the best wrestlers in the best conference? I'll bet a brewski no one here satisfies all those that I asked. My guess is not even a few of those that defined SG's first year are satisfied by any here. Give it a rest. Why are we comparing him to a higher caliber wrestler who had the luxury of developing under much, much better circumstances?

Does anyone know how close the wrestle offs were? Did they wrestle off more than once? To your point, true freshman lost a wrestle off to a senior "shoulda been an AA" in JVB. I dont think that discounts his abilities.

Just let the kid get healthy and let’s c what he can do on the mat... I don’t have any more expectations.. he’s gonna be this, if that, or if x happens or y he can be z....

Seriously?
Tonight?

Can you imagine if we didn't have anybody in the NC the meltdown on this board.
Nervous energy. Need something to talk about in order to keep our minds off of tonight's match. Tonight could be huge for Rutgers wrestling. And well historic for that matter. I'm nervous thinking about it.
