I'm as frustrated with the loss as everyone else but I don't get the meltdown targeted at Flood and Laviano. Last year Flood won 9 games and should have beaten PSU as well. Laviano threw 3 TDs last week and his stat line yesterday looks pretty good for a first start. The penalties were unexcusable but this is far from typical for Flood's teams. And I honestly don't understand what the evidence is that Rettig is the better option. Based on last week? As far as the defense is concerned - what was the expectation? Flood and Rossi would recover from the player losses in two weeks and find Big 5 level DBs hidden on the depth chart? We have someone as good as Hamilton to backfill his absence in the lineup? This team is thin, we're not OSU or even Michigan at this point. We just don't have the talent and depth to recover from key personnel losses.
Still, the coaches put the team in a position to win by double digits and the team shot itself in the foot. Move on to next week.
