Big statement from Pike saying we took a big step up last two games on the defensive end. I was really concerned our defense after the first few games may take sme time to develop especially with the six newcomers. It’s good to see we seem to have made some quick progress. Hopefully it translates well with this rough patch of 3 tough games coming up!

Nice to see. But it’s very hard to give much credence to a ranking system that has undefeated SJU, who beat us by 18 points at our place, at No. 55, while we are No. 29 at 4-1.

Agreed. He is playing too many minutes. Kiss has been playing less, and not effectively lately, and McConnel can't seem to find his way. You can tell by the minutes they play that Coach Pikiell doesn't trust either. Mathis is playing a little better. Will he be the second guard? At this moment, we seem to have even less guard depth than we did last season.

That's not what a backup is. If any teams best guard went down they would struggle. I also wish we had a back-up to Geo that would plug in seamlessly. He would be starting at 2-guard and we would have one of the best backcourts in the league.

A lot of teams have at least a serviceable 2nd pg. If we only have one, we shouldn’t be running him 37minutes in games where the team wins by 30.

Also, not every teams lead guard is their best player.

I still have belief that Kiss is going to help. His defense is not as bad as people have been saying. His best plays for himself on offense right now are his 3pt shot, and his backdoor cut/dunk.

Why not run Baker, Thiam, Harper, EO, and Doorson? It's early so I have confidence the team will get a little better. I would even like to see Joey Downes play more at this point.
