I really wish Rutgers would take a shot with Gawlik. I know he's small but you see small guys tear it up all over the country every Saturday. He has been a Legend on the gridiron in the Shore area for a long time. He does so many things on the field you just can't teach. Great hands and vision. Kid is just a beast on the field and I can see him being dynamite on kick returns and on the offensive side.
I know being named 1st team All-State in NJ USUALY means D1 scholarship but Gawlik has now been named 1st team in NJ for the 2nd year. Give him a shot RU.

Without watching his films I'd say: Not even listed in Rivals and not every kid who gets named 1st team gets a D1 scholarship. Just talking about it in another thread. Same goes for Penny and Ohio kids as well.

I'm not even sure this kid is a PWO candidate, to be honest, but that's not my call (obviously...).

does he have 1AA offers? Watching his highlights and I'm not seeing the speed you need to play at this level.

The Pats and the Cowboys have made quick little white guys fashionable. The operative word being quick.

Last I heard his offers are light. Virginia Tech was in to look at him. I know he's a longshot on a scholarship but I think he's going to be a steal for some program. Your named 1st team All-State in NJ 2 years in a row you are a special player.

No offense but there's a zero % chance Mike Gawlik can play in the big ten. And he's not just little, he's about 5'6 160. Julian Edelman is 5'10 198. Michigan had a running back Sam McGuffie a few years back who was about 185 and he got rocked so bad. After a couple of hits and multiple concussions, he had to transfer to Rice. Mike Gawlik will be good at Wagner, Monmouth or Stony Brook but we don't need 160 lb. running backs in the big 10. Nick Castellano was a monster at Jackson in the early 2000's but he wasn't a 1-A player either. He went to Monmouth and was pretty good.

If he's 5'6" 160 he needs to run a sub 4.3 40 and be used as a kick returner or slot WR. Quick catches when matched up against an LB or S.

Can't be a RB at that size.

THAT was the guy I was trying to recall....Nick Castellano. One of the best high school linebackers I've ever seen. But never gonna play in D1A.

Well disagree about him not being a BIG10 player one day. He's bigger then 5'6 and 160 right now. Never said as a B1G RB. I just think Gawlik is so special and has proved it. So easy to say go to Monmouth or other 1-AA Programs.

Your cousin ?

With no disrespect to the kid the running back from Central Regional is bigger, 2nd team all state with just as many or more yards and he's probably headed to Maine. Some kids are not looked at as D1 prospects no matter what kind of numbers they put up in high school.

Making all-state "2 straight years" doesn't mean you're made for a B1G roster. Doesn't mean he can't walk on, and take it from there, but this kid is a tad on the "little" side and very few kids as such make an impact in P5 programs.

That being said, don't get me wrong, if he wants to take a shot and come here as a walk-on, and try to make it on ST's, God-bless and bring it kid!

Nick Castellano was definitely one of the best LB's I've ever seen. He was also 185.

Miles Schuler was the literally the fastest kid in the State and couldn't do anything in the B10. Shaking some goofy kid from Brick Memorial, isn't the same thing as juking Jabrill Peppers. We'll agree to disagree. I wish the kid the best and maybe he proves me wrong but I don't see it.

Mike Gawlik is a nice player in a conference where his size doesn't factor in...he has good but not elite speed ....Gawlik is small in stature and that helps him at the high school level...Bryce Watts was not "trucked " by him ...it was a missed tackle....quite obvious on this video Gawlik is under 5'8 " and probably does not weigh more than 160-165 lbs...Tim Brown was about 5'6" 165 but had elite type speed and twitch ....that is why he was able to make it here as a WR...the Parker kid from Brooklyn is the same type kid but quicker ...this kid reminds me of a great St. Benedict's Prep RB around 63-64 ....1st team N.J. All -Stater Ralph Lilore... Lilore was about 180 lbs and only 5'2 " / 5'3"...went on to play at Holy Cross...played for legendary coach Joe Kassberger...a different era but very similar situation...always room for a kid willing to prove us wrong.

Statistically Brito from Paramus Catholic was better than Jonathan Lewis. Brito is 5'8 175, Lewis is 6'3 225. Lewis is getting the scholarship. At 5'7, he better run a 4.3, if he's going to play in the B1G.

He just trucks RU recruit #13 Watts on this screen.

Watts is a WR and wouldn't play defense in the B1G. I agree with you the kid is awesome. I just don't think he could physically play on this level. Maybe I'm wrong. He's substantially smaller than Juwan Harris and Juwan Harris looks like a second grader out there.

Watts is being recruited to play CB

A 6'3 D1 recruit meets you in a hole squares his shoulders and ends up on his tail and the back goes 60 more yards for score. Gawlik trucked him!

Being named all state two years in a row has absolutely no bearing on how you project in college. Zilch.

There's plenty of guys who are all world HS players that aren't D-1A.

WTF 5'2" 180 is insane.

Great running back but does not have D1 top end speed. Has good vision, is quick, good hips, good feet, get his shoulders square but his stop start is not elite and he runs a bit high.

That being said the kid can ball. I hope he ends up getting a shot to play somewhere.
