in the penultimate week of the regular season before the NCAA Tournament, RU has climbed one spot to #3, behind Maryland (duh) and Georgetown. RU is down to #6 in RPI which isn't really a bad thing if that puts us at the 6 seed in the NCAA Tourney and dodges UMD before the NC Game.

Excellent!

Although I am a Terrapin fan, I have to wonder about the very-possible idea of Rutgers beating Maryland in the B1G Finals. Would the B1G be seeded 1-2 in that case? The ACC would not be happy...
If RU beats OSU in the Semis, there's a nonzero chance that RU could end up #2, especially if Georgetown loses in the BE Tourney.

Our problem is a lack of big wins. Being OSU actually makes that win less good. Army is our second best win and them losing to Navy really put a dent in our Quality win score. The only real shot we have at #2 is to beat Maryland and win the B1G. That would give us the biggest win of any team in the country.

The dilemma we have now is if we make the B1G Championship, do we end up in the 4/5 line and have to face Maryland in the Final Four? Ideally we want to face them last, and the way to do that (unless we beat them in the B1G Champ Game in which case we instantly vault to #1, IMO), is to end up in the 2, 3, 6, or 7 spot in the NCAA Tourney.

Saturday will be a decisive day for at large bids:

Princeton - Cornell
Yale - Harvard
Duke - UNC

Lose and Cornell, Harvard would have to get the Ivy AQ and UNC is simply out. Those games go the other way and who knows what happens. Things would be even more scrambled if Syracuse would beat ND, who seems to be this year's committee darling.

On a sad note, the sport lost another legendary coach yesterday. Cornell's Richie Moran passed at age 85.

Army, and to a lesser extent Loyola winning the their conference would be very good for us.

Ivy wishes they have a 6 team conference tourney like the B1G does. Moving up to a 6 team tourney was a brilliant move for the B1G.

It would be great if Unc beats Duke. But I don't see that happening. Talking to someone who would know, Unc has some serious internal issues.

Conversely, this was not the year for the Acc to go to a round robin. Unless you don't like Acc teams.

I mentioned this yesterday but might've fallen through the cracks. If we get a home Round 1 game, we would likely have to lobby to have the game on Saturday at noon or 2 pm since RU Graduation is on Sunday, 5/15. There's zero chance we're playing a Tourney game at Yurcak or one of the practice fields, so I'm hoping Hobbs/Brecht/Holloway lobbies for as early a Round 1 home game as possible should we get it...Saturday at noon or 2 pm so that the grounds crew can immediately set the stadium up for Graduation the minute the game is over.

I truly don't think it is resolved purely by mathematics in the smoky room, anyway. They are going to arrange the teams as they see fit ("prefer" might be a better word). Last year they saw fit to send Maryland to play a road game against a lower seed. This year they may try to put Rutgers and and Maryland on the same side for whatever motivation they have...

We cannot play our first game at Yurcak in the first round of the NCAA tourney. Can't happen and I am almost certain it won't.

2 possible outcomes:

12 Noon game at SHI
Committee cites conflict with graduation and put Rutgers on the road.

I'd laugh at the 2nd part if I didn't know how corrupt those assholes truly are. But like Cali said, we're playing a home Tourney game provided we take care of OSU in the Semis, and it'll be a home game in the Stadium. Grounds crew won't complain when they see their paychecks for overtime pay that week.

Focus on getting to B1G Champ game. That’s it

Everything else will play out

Maryland is the 1 no matter what they do

My bet is if we win our semi game, we’re gonna be a 5-6 seed tops

If we lose next Thursday night...I think we fall to a 10 seed

The RPI metric will not move us any higher than say a 5 IMO...Unless we stun Maryland

Team just needs to win the Big Ten Semi and that locks in a 5-7 seed and a home game

Fun stuff to talk about

Still recovering from Saturday. Kinda wish I didn’t have to travel to Dallas tomorrow. I’m tired

I'm with you Golfer! Fuzzy day today at work after being gone for 10 days lol.

Just win baby. That's where we are in the season now. Style points are over. Survive and advance.

What happens if Michigan beats OSU in the opening round B1G game, and then Michigan beats us in the semis?

Do we still get in? Does OSU get in? Does the committee screw us both (and the B1G) and we get NO at-large bids? Or do all three get in (MD, RU, OSU), but they drop RU and OSU in the seedings?

Maryland and RU are both in. OSU likely still in based on the their strong resume. But they will sweat. If you take it a step further and have Michigan beating Maryland and getting the automatic, it's Maryland, RU, and Michigan and OSU gets screwed.

If OSU handles their business vs Michigan, they should be fine. Ivies would be the conference that would have to worry the most about potential bid thieves like Denver/Nova in the BE, for example.

And the Acc. They are closer to getting one team in than 3 in my opinion.

Uva has a ND win offset by a bad loss in Richmond. They have beaten nobody else.

Assuming 1 of the B1G 3 wins the AQ they are all in with 2 at-large. The Ivies reputedly have the most potential spots and have the biggest potential to lose spots. The AQ and 2 at-larges likely but not as locked in as the Big 10. Virginia claims one and that leaves 3 at-large spots open. Big East and Patriot League could each claim an at large depending on how their tournaments go. That would leave a second ACC spot.
