Although it has been said that money is not an object or barrier, given our past history and the the media scrutiny that a $3.5MM+ head coach would bring - the pool of $$ that we can afford to lay out on a staff is not as unlimited as some might think and we have to allocate that pool wisely

I have seen various posts where Golden is an uptick over Schiano and vice versa, so arguably, the 2 of them would be in the same category. The one major difference between them is $$$, with Golden needing this job to rehab his reputation whereas Schiano feels he will be a player in any major coaching search and would likely be holding out for at least 1 - 1.5MM more than Greg per year. The truth is, none of us have a clue who is leading the search - and I am sure the first phone call was Greg to Greg and if Brown hasnt put a deal together by now, chances are that Schiano is not coming back. What intrigues me about Golden is that by all accounts, he seems to be a good CEO type, runs a tight ship and is a proven recruiter. For a myriad of reasons, Miami just wasnt a good fit and a more humbled and wiser Al Golden might be a good re-boot. For these very same reasons, Joe Moglia is also a intriguing prospect, as his cost would be low, he has been successful at whatever he has done, and his rolodex is huge. Joe would be very similar to Flood in that he would give a lot of rope to his coordinators and be more of a program head than an XandO coach

Most important, paying less than $2MM a year to Golden would free up $$ to get top quality coordinators and assistants, which Rutgers has never done with the exception of Fridge. I am hoping that Hobbs is aware of this, when Rutgers had its greatest success, it was when Hafley and Angelichio were added to the staff from Pitt, so a charismatic recruiter along with assistants that have ties to NJ could absolutely crush it. I hope whoever comes in, that EJ is retained, as he was able to get almost every Top 15 player on campus, and as much as players like Flood as a person, he was still missing that "stain" at the end of the day.

so the question becomes - do you lay out $3-4MM to hire the next Mullen but be limited on the $$ you have for assistants, or hire a head coach on the cheap but put together a dream team of assistants.
